Any settings of adsl modem and router ( wired) or WIFi,
are meant for connecting your system to Internet.
Depending on the tariff plan ( speed selected ), and the
internet usage of each user, there is not much choice
    in changing the settings.

MT882 has been around for a pretty long time
( like the Ambassador car !) and later models
are vastly improved in their specifications.

Usually we set for a stable connection,
and for special applications some Port forwarding,
and in wifi secure the connection against intruders.

    You specify your need:
Say play On line games., download movies /audio etc
or plain email/ voice chat video conference , or
    have your own web site.

If you are using MT882 check speed at
speedtest.net say SYdney server and give feed back.
and Post screen shot as jpg annexure of your Summary page.
Tweaking ( very little choice ) is possible for optimum
    settings.

Still you are thinking of buying an additional router , ( wifi may be )
, your present and future set up is to be considered.
( numbers of computers Laptops VOIP Xbox
    Mobile phone connectivity etc ).

Click the "ARCHIVE" link at the bottom of this page.
you may find some useful threads .
    or "Broadband How to ........."
    sub forum here, for different
    combinations of modems/ routers etc

    Feedback.
    ( Incidentally , I am using Mt882 for past two years !)
