| Bronze Member | Hi there, Bsnl BB was ordered on 13 of July and we got the connection just yesterday, and BB was installed infornt of us, it all went good untill i asked how to change the password from the default which they provide while giving you the userid and password + how do you see the usage details of certain day?? The Technical guy who came to our house started panicing and quickly started shouting at us saying " Don't change the default password, let it be how it is right now". Well i have suffered the same instance last time when we took BB connection and paid huge amounts of bills for not even using abruptly more than 150 - 200MB per day. So i looked up into the user Manual provided aong with the Modem [Huwai MT882] and changed it.Alas!! i could never browse except opening the CPE portal ![]() I re-again called up the Technical guy who had come to our house, first he said he was not the one and second time he spoke himself and scolded us violently for changing the default password Today[23/7/2009] i called up to BB customer care and enquired to guide me about how to change the default password, he [Technical care representative] friggled out pausing the call, re-speaking out, pausing, and lastly he said "Please excuse me, kindly do it yourself and once we get it in our system, we will update it here" Please say me how to change the password from default one which i got from them with BB connection. CPE ip: 192.168.1.1 ID: admin Pass: admin Secondly i need to know the portal from which i can check the daily usage of BB, please guide me. Thirdly my BB keeps on getting Disconnection every few minutes and i have re-start the modem wait till the Link and Act glows stably and browse the net |

| Platinum Member | You can change the password from the BSNL portal. BSNL Portal But you must first get the 14 digit portal-id from BSNL. Initially the usage password and portal password are the same, i.e., password. You can definitelty change the password. I have done and so have many others. Just make a note of the changed password somewhere in a diary. Keep the diary secure in some place in your home.

| As explained above, use data.bsnl.in. Log in using your 14 digit Portal ID. You will find option to change both service and portal password. |

| Bronze Member | Thanks just4kix for the portal really helped, but i have 1 question is there any need to change the CPE/Modem Password so as to avoid other people using it?? [Many instances are already there in this forum that sometimes one can use others bandwidth] if not changing the password in portal is just enough? Secondly please help me about how to keep internet from getting disconnected for every few minutes [Modem Model :SmartAX MT-882 ADSL Modem] [Sterlite Version]. Thank You |

| Platinum Member | You should change ***all*** default passwords. For your frequent disconnections, there could be many causes: a) First, have you installed a splitter? If yes, is it at the first entry point of the telephone line in home? Voice and Data must be completely separated at the entry point. b) What are the SNR and Line attenuation values shown in the modem? Check the modem status pages. Have a look here: SNR Margin and Line Attenuation - What do they mean? c) How far is your home from the exchange? A distance of over 3 km will mean poor SNR and high attenuation in the crappy network. d) I faced similar issues: My interactions with BSNL e) For all your queries, please read the many guides posted in the Broadband How to section. |
