Default WA3002G4 Diagnostics shows FAIL... can't connect!

Hi there, I've read through all the configuration threads on the board, but whenever I configure my WA3002G4 router through the PPPoE process, I'm unable to connect to the internet, and the diagnostics page shows FAIL at multiple points. My username & password are correct too, could this be because the BSNL server is not responding at the moment? I've attached a screenshot of the diagnostic page... any help?

Thanks for the response. I did exactly what you said, and followed the instructions at that BSNL site, but still the same. The thing is, when the router reboots after I've done those changes, the primary dns server & the secondary dns server both appear to be 192.168.1.1 in the router summary page. I tried the diagnostics page of the router again, and got the same FAIL messages. Also, I currently use Spectranet, as my broadband service until I can hook up the BSNL one... anyway, in the network connection that is created, I've to enter a IP address and a default gateway, and then I can login at their site to start my net session. Whenever I configure the router, I keep those settings at Obtain IP address automatically, but I can't help to believe that the problem I'm facing is somehow connected to Spectranet... I've attached the screenshot of the router after I followed essbebe's instructions.

For spectranet do you use a Cable modem ?
    ( or 24 online connection ?)
or Rj45 goes directly to computer ethernet port ?
Give details of the modem if any.

You try giving the input to LAN1 port of WA 3002-g4
from spectranet and connect Lan2 to computer.
( WA3002_g4 3 in one no internet or wan port available )
You might need to "clone" the MAC address of the PC that is recognized by
the cable modem. The MAC address appears in the local PC status-support
page. That MAC address can be keyed in to the router under setup, "MAC
Address Clone". That would make the cable modem accept the router
connection as if it were your original PC connection.
could be some MAC address problem.

With BSNL connection will/may/can work smoothly!

The RJ45 goes directly to my laptop's ethernet port. Is there any other method that doesn't involve the Spectranet cable? Becuase if I can get the BSNL bb to work, I'm planning to get rid of Spectranet altogether. And if it is a MAC address problem, then how could I fix it, or atleast set to some defaults? Grr... Spectranet.. just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

@superprash2003: I've followed all the WA3002G4 configuration tips listed on this forum, as well as those I've found via Google. I'll post the WAN page screenshot when I get back home from work, but in brief, I'm just configuring the PPPoE row, and have removed the rest of the rows... then followed the many tutorials listed here. Like I said, I'll post the screenie when I get back home.

Hey guys... got my connection to work... seems like it was a BSNL phone line issue. I went back home and connected the router, and it just worked! Anyway, thanks a ton for the help

Well I hate doing this, but now I'm back to square one. I managed to get the net working, like I said, but now I'm back to square one, and the router diagnostics page shows FAIL again. The strange thing is, that the router summary page always shows the primary & secondary dns servers as 192.168.1.1, even though I've set them to obtain the DNS servers automatically. Like superprash2003 asked, I'm attaching a screenshot of the WAN page. Also now, when I start the router, only the WLAN, DSL & Power lights are on, and the Internet & Status lights do not come on. Help?

    h t t p://www.chennai.bsnl.co.in/BBS/Wireless/WirelessSecurity.htm

    Also my previous post.

I've set them to obtain the DNS servers automatically.
    uncheck option.
    enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
Apply .Save . Wait for 2 minutes.

    In computer
    network/LAN or wireless LAN properties
    TCP/IP
    properties
    Existing Ip values or
    select Obtain Ip address automatically.

DNS: enter same as given above.
    If needed
    Click Advanced under wins
enter any BSNL DNS you have entered earlier.
    Apply Save.

    Post Ipconfig /all data
    Start RUn type cmd OK
    New window
    type ipconfig /all.

    feedback.

    seems ok.
confirm you are connected to internet and can surf
    (a) in Lan mode or
    (b) wifi mode.

    2. In modem and under maintenance
    select option Save settings.
    to say C:/My Documents/IBFmodem backup
    Update 1206PM
One more reference with screen shots.
( add to bookmarks if (2) not done .

essbebe: No I cannot connect to the internet and cannot surf in either lan or wifi mode. I also followed the tips on the page you gave, but to no success. You say on step 2 that I should save the modem's settings. Should I then update the router?

With power On to the modem press the RESET button
at the back ( or in the bottom a small round hole)
for about 30 to 40 seconds.
All settings will be restored to Factory defaults.

    Open WAN page .
    select 0_35 link
    edit
    Select "Bridged" button etc
    SAVE reboot etc
    wait for two minutes.
Check whether you can dial the connection and get connected.

The blog link has screen shots and clear instructions.

    Try LAN/ethernet connection first .
    Feedback.

essbebe: I think there might be something wrong with the router or the phone line... because it just started to work again... before I jinx it, I'm going to go do some research on phone lines and attenuation and stuff... thanks again.

Saw your thread Izhar, and it seems our problem lies with BSNL's phone line...

Maybe, your problem is also regarding phone line.. Check it out by calling lineman.. possibilities are there..
rest of the things, you can do setting of your modem manually.. but, I'll say you should check your line too.

I have got it to work now, like I said in the post above, but its weird how it'll work in rainy conditions, but it won't work when the weather's sunny and the line *seems* fine... oh how I wish Airtel would come here...

Will do that esbebe, but right now I can't even connect to the modem's config page @ 192.168.1.1... all the router's led's light up, but I can't connect to the router anyway... I'm going to give my laptop a thorough check, and then get back to you.
