    OK. Normal fonts please.

Change the modem as Luke said and if BSNL is not doing anything check for other ISPs.

If you use BSNL you will get another one for free or some nominal fee. You can edit your thread & change font , I think.

D-link is great if you don't want to buy from your ISP.

The little I know about Dataone Broadband Services offered by BSNL
    How do you connect ?
Using a dialer (wanminiport ) "Bridged" mode ?
    or
Always On PPP/PPPoE ( selected in Wan page ).

    Open the Summary page.
Against VPI/VCI 0 35 a green button with "Note Icon"
    may appear.
I have to click this Icon everytime I connect and disconnect.
in "Always On" mode " for past two years .

Post screen shot of the Summary Page.
( we have to see the snr etc data )
Check all cables contacts for rusting/corrosion/blackening/oxidization.
Better to replace all rj11 and rj45 cables. ( shorter the better ).

Also SMS text language is not permitted in tech/KB topics.

Sorry for being such a stickler for the rules but they need to be followed.

Cost of new adsl Modem is Rs 1000/= plus taxes. ( revised recently)

And if you are paying rent for an adsl modem after 24 months it is reduced to rs 25/= PM.
Or have an option to buy it at 50% discount. (FAQ no 45 BB )

I fear your telephone is far away from the teleco excahnge.
how is the phone performance in terms of Noise etc,
if you have any telephones before the splitter, better change them to, after the splitter.
when the modem is ON, you can take the SNR and other attenuation info and post. it would help in better analysis. Don't invest immediately on Modem.
let them test and say whether the modem is faulty and any other modem works at your home, then you can decide
