Are you facing low speed in torrents ? If so try port forwarding. Please try a speed test from speedtest.net and post the result.

You should get atleast 1.8 Mbps download speed and 256 Kbps download speed.
Your test results indicates that its not possible to get speeds higher than 131 KBps.

Default bsnl low speed problem solved

i have solved why the speed is low at night.......
and i have some 4-7 steps involved to correct that.....
    1) you cant forward a port if u are using a modem named UTR...
you have to open up all the ports ....
one way to do it is

    go to 192.168.1.1
    go to advanced setup
there will be NAT(Network Address Translation)
    click that...
there will be an empty field and just enter the ip address of ur local machine..
ip adress of local machine= just type ipconfig in command prompt and u will get some thing like 192.168.1.*
enter reboot and see the speed change.....

There are still other steps you have to do which u can contact me at giri.u275@gmail.com
believe me i have a solution for this

I DON KNOW TO UPLOAD A PIC IN THIS OR I WOULD HAVE SHOWN A SPEED UPTO 293KBPS
    REPLY IS MUST....

Other steps i cant explain... If u can give ur email id i can forward a notepad file and 2 exe files which will guide u through the rest of the process...
    I am also in orkut......

Gaurav Rao do you download torrent file from Private traker or Public traker.
Some time public traker dose not have good download speed.

Cheak your modem GUI Web page the Upload and downlaod rates should be 256Kbps for upload and 2048Kbps for download or if shows above then really good.

If all are Ok I mention above then you have to patience for some days because BSNL restore your DL and UL speed in after few days not only your others also.
Nothing you can do with port forwarding or PPPoE from desktop if the cap done from the exchange. You can test your speed Log in from Desktop PPPoE. If the speed shows to you same nothing you can do with port forwarding.

Bsnl Cap the speed some time for save the bandwith. I am not able to cheak it from Kolkata because your location says your are in Pune. But few days ago the speed was cap in Kolkata for some days.

    Default port forwarding

    i have a UTR 3** something modem....
where i cannot forward a port....
instead i open up all available ports and use a good anti virus....

opening up is all explained in above procedure.......
sometimes u don get download speed faster because windows only allows some 10 ongoing connection....
    download a software called Half-open_limit_fix_3.1.zip
change the number of connections to 100....
it will patch and ask for restart... restart it....

now if u r using utorrent then in just highlight advanced tab and you will see some numbers associated to a name....
find net.max_halfopen.... default it will be 8
    change it to 60 something....
your speed will definitely reach beyond 200......

reply whether did u notice any change.......
    it will definitely work....

I allrady told you nothing you can do if the bandwidth cap from the exchange. Read my previous post. If all are OK to your system what I write there to cheak then you have to keep patience for some days the speed will automatically increase.

If you have doubt in speed decreases for port forwarding then try with Bridge Mode and log in from your Desktop. If the speed still shows to you same as PPPoE from your Router then nothing you can do from your side.

If you get DL speed 140KBps from bridge mode then you cant increase your DL speed from port forwarding. Cheak your Modem seetings and set the mode to G.Dmt if its not set to this mode. Cheak your Upload speed in your ADSL Router GUI page. It should be 256Kbps or higher. If the upload speed shows to your GUI page less then 256Kbps then the download speed get effect from it.

Your Router is deferent so the GUI is deferent. But the seetings should be the same.
You can post your GUI here.
