Default a newbee need some info regarding BSNL

hi guyz..iam new to this forum..

i have a cable connection..iam pissed off by their service so i am planning to change my line to BSNL

i have decided to go for UL750 since its is unlimited..but 256kbps is very less for a downloading junkie like me
so in future i may plan to change it to 500c or 500c+

i have some queries regarding this plan..
i understand that itis unlimited during nights...but iu have some doubts regarding the speed offered..
it says (256kbps to 2mbps) wherever tecnically feasible//
i don't understand what thjis means,...
how much speed would i get ??
    downloading speeds?
also is it that the speeds depend on the modem??
some guy was mentioning that he is getting 200KBps.. is it true..i use torrents extensively..
plz throw some light on this

For 500 plans, speed varies from area to area. You will get somewhere near 150 - 200 KBps. Speeds are modem independent. In torrents, you can achieve same speed or even up to 240 KBps on a well seeded torrent.

Distance from exchange and bandwidth traffic will affect the speed. If more people are connected using the same line, speed may fall. But mostly it will be above 150 KBps.

The plan charge for UL750 is Rs. 750 per month.

The 20% discount for government employees is allowed on residential addresses of government employees. I am not sure whether Bank Employee constitutes as a Government employee. Also, I am not clear whether you are staying with your father or a rented place at the location of your college. If it the later case, then you will not get the discount.

Service Tax is 10.3% on Rs. 750. After adding service tax, 20% discount (if applicable) is deducted.
