Rep Power: 12 | Right click on "My Computer" select "Properties" from the list select the tab named "Hardware" click on "Device Manager" expand the tree item named "Network Adapters" right click on the Realtek RTL8139 and select "Properties" from the list go to the "Advanced" tab Select "Link Speed & Duplex Mode" On the drop-down menu to the right, select "10M Full mode" ( or 100M if seen) Click "Ok" close out of Device Manager and My Computer properties. This is usual default settings. |

Rep Power: 2 | Typically, all network adaptors will have speeds in excess of 5.4/56 mbps (10/100 mbps) even in half duplex mode. Since this is far in excess of your Broadband speed (256 kbps) no amount of tweaking on your adaptor is going to materially afeect your broadband speed |
