    Default Being curious...

    i am little being curious as well as worried, first look at the pic here

    i have noticed that even i ain't browsing the Received in BSNL status box increases rapidly, what does it mean, i am bit worried about tis i.e wat i am receiving, to make sure i always keep all the automatic updates option disabled, then also wat is it receiving ,being curious ha.

    as a general question
    in case if its other way round say Sent part in BSNL status box increases rapidly with less movement in Received part, (when i jus keep my BSNL connected), not browsing, does it mean, without my knowledge informations are sent from my PC..

    1.
    Press CTRL+ALT+DEL keys.
    IN Task Manager see application/s active.
    In processes which is hogging memory ?
    CPU Usage 100 % ?

    2.
    Download Anvir Task Manager free and use it
    for
    more info/ control over Start Up/processes etc.

    3

    RUN Antivirus and Antispy program .
    May take more than two hours.
    Yahoo Antispy is quite fast. try it also.

    Install Bitmeter and check if there is any background downloading when the system is idle.

    oh my god,there is no problem with receiving data when the connection is ON state.the send and received bytes you are seeing is just the communication between your computer and your modem.IT IS NOT THE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN YOUR MODEM AND BSNL SERVER.so don't worry,there is no virus or spyware running on your PC.

    by the way did u check the speed tab? its ays 100 Mbps!!! did you think that was your connection speed?!!! it's just the connection speed between the modem and computer.

    Open windows Firewall settings > Exceptions
    Uncheck all unwanted programs. This may solve your problem.

    @iorhld
    just the communication between your computer and your modem
    Please kindly explain .
    see this. My computer and modem "On" for more than 3 hours !.

    Para two;
    Checking for virus spyware/trojans , even if done
    does no harm to his system. rather
    better to do it and confirm your statement

    so don't worry,there is no virus or spyware running on your PC.
    I would rather , avoid such a wild sure statement , about your system.

    dear mr essbebe,i am posting a screen shot of my connection details.i have been connected to the internet just for 53 minutes but my modem and computer has been on for the whole day.please note the send and received data packet count,is it possible for such a high count just in 53 minutes of being connected to the internet?maybe what screen shot u have posted is the actual data count of the connection between your modem and BSNL server.

    please note that the connection details are available seperately for between the modem -computer or modem -bsnl server.

    @superprash2003.

    Just now used Yahoo Antispy. Removed 7 tracking cookies.
    time taken 7 seconds.

    I would not depend on the Network status page .
    I switched off modem/vonage/netgear614 . No Internet connection.
    As i am on Wireless mode,
    another wifi network was detected, and without any traffic/download/no browser/ NO OE
    still data was being exchanged.
    Wireless ethernet card (receiver) and external AP.
    Another difference : Mine was shown in Packets.
    Multiply by ( 10 start/stop byte ?) and
    about 3 MB was exchanged in an hour. ( another usage meter)
    ( please confirm this Packets to Bytes formula )

    I find checking usage with Datafox/Firedfox Browser,
    immediately is the
    best option to check any unusual activity.

    Switch off Internet/modem and restart
    after 10 minutes. BSNL BB usage is updated. usually
    ( Again mine 59.xx.xx.xx
    may not work for 117.xx.xx.xx. cannot confirm. )

    Thumbs up Packets to Bytes

    Data in Packets can not be directly converted to Bytes because each Packet can contain different Payload.
