Question Required Urgent Support---bsnl broadband setting on MTNL trendchip hg520

    Dear all,
I moved to ajmer from delhi recently and have taken bsnl broadband. i already have a modem from my previous broadband connection of MTNL, Trendchip HG 520. After reading all the posts on this forum i changed vpi/vci and the user id password but still i am not able to connect.

Another question- do i need to add @bsnl.in at the end of my user id which is in the format of AA-STDCODE-PHONENUBER ?

also is the default password password ?

    please help me.

VPI VCI for BSNl is 0 and 35
    need not enter @ bsnl.in
    Use opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
    2.
No telephone number entry in modem like MTNL.
Three sets of Id and PW required in BSNL for IP 117.xx.xx.xx
(a)Password for UserId abcd @ bsnl .in to be obrtained from CC BSNL
(b)Also another 14 digit Portal Usage Id and PW default Pw.
(c)Also another email Id and pW for email access in Bsnl web mail.

    Question

I have got the following user id and password from bsnl :

    ID : AA-STDCODE-PH.NO.
    PASS : AAA-123-25072009(123 is a 3 digit no.)

Now as i understand the password given above is the portal ID for checking usage and the default password is (password).

Now the email id is AASTDCODEPHONE NO.@BSNL.IN and also the default password is (password).

Now my question is what should i enter as id and password in the modem?

    pls help

New Information to me that BSNL
also started using Telephone number in user ID. Thanks.

If on Dialer Mode enter without @ bsnl.inID : AA-STDCODE-PH.NO.
PW XXXXX default password or as given to you by BSNL

If "Always On " mode enter in WAN page without @ bsnl.in

    2
If you are connected to internet check in Usage portal
    ID : AAA12325072009 PW : password.

    bbservice.bsnl.in

    3
    AA-STDCODE-PH.NO. Password xxxxxxx
Just to confirm your email Id try in web mail BSNL.
    Dataone WebMail.
( Recently i was told they gave a different email ID
    not same as log-in ID)
If you cannot access the web mail page contact CC again.

    feedback.

    Question

I can check my usage and my email with id password stated in my previous post but i am not able to connect to internet both in pppoe/bridge mode.

thats why i wanted to know what to use. its really confusing because the password given by BSNL is also my portal id. and ID given by BSNL is my webmail user name and default password is same"(i.e password).

since i have not taken modem from BSNL they are not helping me.

I dont understand what is the problem.

    thanks for your reply.

How do you get connected to internet now ?
    using any other modem ?
    using any other ISP ?
are you on dial up mode or "Always On Mode ?
    1.
If on "Always On mode "
we can see the PW in plain Language in the wan page.
    Open the page containg PW
and in Context menu click "View Source "
scroll down the page to see your PW !
    2.
Now Problem limited to (Login user Id Ok) password ???????
    3.
    Go to your Usage portal
    Go to Change Password page.
type old password as "password" or "multiplay"
    type new one
    confirm new one .
now try in "Dialer mode "

    Question

Actually i am posting from my office. as stated earlier bsnl has not done the installation as i have my own modem. the user id though has been given by bsnl as explained in my earlier posts.

now i am trying to connect in pppoe mode. but its not connecting. I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE PASSWORD IN BOTH THE LOCATIONS BUT STILL I AM NOT ABLE TO CONNECT. Though i can login to usage portal and bsnl email account with the changed password.

also what is the TCP MSS and TCP MTU Values for BSNL?

1492 is a good MTU value.. you could also try 1452,1454 etc..
changing your password in bsnl is a big headache, sometimes it stops working later on.. this happened to a friend of mine once.. the best thing to do is call CC and ask them to reset your password

Probably BSNL has not activated your userID password.

    Call JTO of your Exchange
( broadband section directly and explain.)
Say you cannot connect and don't know the PW.

    Wild try: Use 14digit portalid as PW ( No @ bsnl.in )
try dialer mode. Then you can check different PW.

If no progress , I will give ALLINDIA complaint web site.
    will post later here now.

    Para two:
The Usage portal and web mail can be accessed
by any body knowing the details.
But with your USER ID and Password,
NORMALLY, only from your Telephone you can connect to
    Internet. ( called Port binding)
    Like NETONE dialup Internet connection.

    Update0555PM.
    ONLY 200 characters ALLOWED.

I too use UL 750. The maximum you can get is 32 KBps. It may be some error in BSNL side if some of your friends are getting higher speeds.
