I can't play most games online. It says ping too high. I ran Speed test with LA and NY servers and got around 300ms. I have BSNL 500C+. I wanted to change to Airtel Freedom 1699 and was wondering it ping will be lower with Airtel. Can someone please check and tell me?

BSNL is not good for online games precisely for the reson you mentioned - high ping times. Reliance Metro Ethernet will give much faster and therefore better ping times (in fact we have a lurking member here who is obsessed with reliance).

Yes, I'm experiencing extremely high latency with BSNL Home1000 too.

BSNL is extremely unreliable with connection quality; there are very frequent problems with their connections and at times you will see packet loss and very high latency (600-700ms or more to US/UK servers).

I'm thinking of switching to another provider but it seems expensive since I will have to pay the phone rental for the other ISP too (thanks to bsnl).

I don't really want to pay more than Rs. 1000 for internet (this includes phone rental); and I typically download anywhere between 4-4.5GB during the day time. I also want a speed of 500kbps at least.

Sadly It's almost as though BSNL is the only ISP that will meet these requirements. It's either choose a better ISP and pay thru ur nose or stick with shitty bsnl.
