Cool BSNL Cooking up something ?

    Hi Guys,

I talked to BSNL engg. this morning and he told me that BSNL is gearing up to provide 1 MBPS and 2 MBPS Home UL plans. He couldnt confirm the prices but he told me that system's are being upgraded and hopefully you will hear annoucement very soon. Another thing that he told me was that 1 MBPS will be around 1300-1400 price tag or they might be upgrading 1350 Home UL users to 1 MBPS without having them to change the plans.

Another thing that i noticed today was that when i login into my router this morning is that

    Line Rate - Upstream - 480
    Line Rate - Downstream - 1088

    Earlier it was 512.

So any of you guys seen the change yet ?

What you guys think? if bsnl will provide 2 MBPS UL to home users?

1 Mbps UL plan for Rs 1400. Not bad I would say. But lets wait & see. I would be happy if they still reduce that price tag...

first of all these are just rumours...and I have been hearing these since 2005

Secondly, if it were upto me I would remove home 500 plan entirely and have a new home 600 with 1MBPS ul day and 2Mbps ul from 9pm to 7am.

Also convert home 1350 to home 1200 and have a 2mbps ul during day and 4mbps ul during 9pm to 7am.

Since Airtel has reduced the tariff. BSNL has to ready the tariff in order to stay in the market. If not then Airtel will capture the market.

So since companies thrive to capture the market, we can soon see BSNL announcing their new tariff & I won't be surprised to see their tariff less than BSNL.

Let them announce it and we shall all know. Useless to speculate.

BSNL broadband consumers to enjoy double speed from Oct
31 Jul 2009, 1022 hrs IST, ET Bureau

KOLKATA: Come October, BSNL broadband consumers in Kolkata will be able to enjoy hi-speed internet connectivity up to the speed of 16 Mbps. This
is nearly double the current speed offered by BSNL. BSNL Kolkata is in the process of upgrading its broadband backbone from the present ADSL system to VDSL which will allow maximum speed up to 26 Mbps in its internet highway. German firm Siemens is undertaking the entire hardware upgradation for the transition from ADSL to VDSL. BSNL will come up with a new tariff plan for consumers who will opt for the 16 Mbps internet connectivity package. The move is likely to help BSNL consolidate its presence in the broadband segment where it currently has 2.2 lakh subscribers in the city.

“We expect to have the VDSL network across Kolkata before the festive season. This will help us to offer hi-speed internet connectivity as the broadband highway can handle speed up to 26 Mbps. The service will be offered to both consumers as well as enterprises,” said BSNL chief general manager (Calcutta circle ) SK Chakravarty.

While the present ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
    technology
at BSNL enables internet connectivity speed up to 16 Mbps, BSNL currently offers a tariff plan for up to 8 mbps. VDSL or VHDSL (Very High Bitrate DSL), on the other hand, is the next-generation technology which is capable of supporting high bandwidth applications like HDTV.
“We have already rolled out the PC across 16 circles of BSNL and we expect to complete the nationwide roll out by September . We are also undertaking trials with MTNL and expect to start commercial roll out in Mumbai and Delhi by November. Currently , we have a subscriber base of 4,000 machines across India,” Novatium Solutions CEO Alok Singh said.
