    I have the same problem:

I am surfing and after a while (30 minutes to one hour, sometimes not at all) all of a sudden data transfer stops.
    Reconnecting doesn't work
Switching the router on and off doesn't work
Only restarting the computer will solve this problem.
And the problem is not browser connected - it is the same for IE, Firefox and google chrome.

PS: Checked all the links and they do not give a solution.

    Please mention

    1. Modem - model and make

    2. Using a dialler or can connect by simply switching ON the modem.

I connect by clicking on my connection shortcut, somehow like my old dial-up used to work.

hmm..interesting.. ping is successful even when you say your disconnected, which means your actually not disconnected..when you say that your disconnected , go to your browser and in the address bar type 74.125.67.100 .. does google page open?

Many a time, too tight security levels in the browser used , blocks any thing and every thing. I always keep ( eg., in IE ver8) Medium, Medium Low and Low for the three settings.
Once saved, and the advanced page reset, the OP is very likely to normalize the browsing.

Don't think changing the security level will change anything. If it happens, it happens to all my browers: IE8, Firefox3.02 and google chrome.
