Unhappy My modem gets reset every time i turn it off

m using a ZTE ZXDSL 831A II ADSL modem provided by bsnl. resently i had to reset my modem. i configured it properly in ppoe mode..
    but after that
it gets reset every time i turn it off ..
then when i turn it on, the lan gets connected then i have to go to 192.168.1.1 and change username and password
from 'multiplay' to my username and password.
in both the 'internet menu' and 'dsl configurations menu' in the configurations page.

so its very annoying to go to the config page every time and change username n password.
if anybody knows the solution kindly reply.... thanks in advance

First of all reduce the size of the font.

Well try again resetting the modem manually might be a problem with the reset button.... just give a try.

To the serious note upgrade the Firmware of the modem which you may find at ZTE website, or just Google it. Problem will be solved, or take it to BSNL.

foribb: CONFIGURING ZTE ZXDSL 831AII IN PPPOE MODE.
    option 2:
    Try "Bridged" wanminiport Dialer mode.
Now you need not enter USERID and PW in the modem.

    Option 1 :
Usually, we may have to go to management menu ( last menu item )
and select AGAIN Save and reboot. try this.
In "Always On" mode the screen shots show you enter UserID and PW TWICE.

    Option 3:
    Go to Tools/Password Change .
Any option to use different Log in Id like user support ?
    will update later.
    user manual.

dude, i have the same modem and i also faced this problem and got it sort by myself. i tel u hw i did...

    1. U first reset ur modem with the reset button at the back of modem.
    2. disconnect the lan cable from the pc cabinet.
    3. reformat ur system drive (C:\ drive) and install a clean and fresh Windows operating System.
    4. After windows intallation, install ur LAN drivers and other drivers of Motherboard.
    5. plug-in the lan cable to ur PC's lan card.
    6. Nw again configure ur modem to PPPOE mode with ur personal username and pass. Reboot ur modem.

NOW UR MODEM WON'T RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS BY ITSELF.
(NOTE: just uninstalling and reinstalling the LAN driver wont solve this issue)

Post screen shot of your WAN page showing " multiplay" as user ID.

Avoid SMS language (* SMS = short message service)
By using proper English, you also
hone/refine your language skill/spellings/ drafting etc.
( If you don't need it in your every day work
    please Ignore !
and your posts will be deleted here.

    Para two:
i reinstalled my pc to check whether it works but no use..
What is the present version ? XP home Pro sp1 sp2 or sp3 ?
Basically the data you enter in the modem pages
are NOT SAVED and it reverts to factory settings.

    You can try this.
Delete all VPI/VCI entries and again Edit
    add new VPi/VCi 0 and 35 either "Bridged " or PPP/PPpoE
    rest as usual.
    Now go the Management/Maintenance menu

    Select SAVE/REBOOT
WAIT for 2 or 3 minutes.
Watch any scroll message in status bar.
    feedback.

If you have the Firmware for the modem try it, if still problem persists as stated earlier take your modem to your concerned bsnl exchange they will check it and will replace it for sure.
