Thread: Problem in configuring Huawei wa1003A modem.

I am just facing a bit problem while making a wi-fi setup on wi-fi enabled Huawei wa1003a.
I have this modem connected to my desktop and then after I read some of the helps given up here for configuring the wi-fi but whenever I am trying to connect the wi-fi to my mobile N97, it even asks for the encryption key but then after its just been continously showing up connection active and the next moment, connection inactive which eventually not letting me to use the net using wi-fi on my phone.
Can somebody plz help me out.

how far away are you from the router?? how strong is the signal?

Presume
you don't have Wireless LANcard in your desktop computer.
Working fine in Lan connection.

Recheck your wifi settings in modem/router.
What is the name of your WIFI in modem and appearing in N97 ?
Does your Phone show other secured/unsecured WIFI networks ?

Usually in Laptop mostly ( desktop additional PCI WLAN card )
we have a wirelesss lan card, to check WIFI
availability.
In my laptop, with my WIFI modem and ISP switched off
I detect 3 other WIFI connections.
with No signal and secured /unsecured network.

Probably you are trying to pick up some other wifi connection .

Settings are fine dear.
The wi-fi is working good when i am accessing it at my laptop, but the problem is only when i am accessing it on my phone.
It even catches up the wi-fi connection and gets connected but then after, the connection keeps on continuously switching between active and inactive.

Have you enable DHCP in the modem/router / ?
Try connection "Always On" mode.

How to do that plz ..

Yeah .. I got that.
Sorry I didn't get you exactly but are you telling me to put the DHCP server on, well its currently in off mode.

And moreover in your first reply, you asked about whether my mobile is catching up the other wi-fi network.

Its catching up mine only, coz the model number appears up on wi-fi list and one more thing as the wi-fi connection changes between active and inactive, the status light on my modem too blinks between on and off.

Does making DHCP server on ll help me to cope with my problem.

Please confirm your problem solved.
Always save any working settings of modem/router/Wi Fi
to say C:/My Documents/ wa1003A settings.

Then Make Changes One by one and
see the improvement , if any.
If it does not help , you can revert to old settings.

Para two ;
Condition :
ISP Is off/Modem Off/Wireless Router Off .

In Laptop , select
"view available wireless networks '
I get about 4 networks secured /unsecured.
This shows Laptop network settings are Ok.

Switch on Internet set up ( modem , router etc )
and the wifi link name will also appear.
Then the Mobile phone , gets connected
and asks for security code if any to connect.

If WIFI is lost the Icon in task bar will show it.
Then try the "REPAIR" option.
Wifi Channel Number 6 and 11 usually selected .
