    Default Local & Remote SNR?

i just go through this (SNR Margin and Line Attenuation - What do they mean?) thread but when i checked my SNR values
i got 2 values Local & remote SNR?

i just Checked The SNR values
    Local SNR value shown-43.5 dB
    Remote SNR Margin-12.5 dB

Whats the meaning of local & remote?
is it mean Upstream & Downstream SNR Margin?
though they are whats the difference between them?
