The free calls are only to local call & not STD. I think its only to local landlines.

There is no differentiation. It is all inclusive - Local, STD, ISD.

When you make any call, a pulse is recorded as per the metered rate. For example, for local call, 3 minutes = one metered call, for STD, it is usually 1 minute = 1 call. For ISD the rates vary by country.

    175 calls mean 175 pulses.
As per the latest definition of Pulse, 1 pulse means the following for H500C plan (i.e. One India)
Local & Intra Circle (<50 KM) : All Landline 180 sec
Intra Circle (>50 KM) : All Landline 120 sec
Local & Intra Circle : BSNL Mobile 120 sec
Local & Intra Circle : Other Mobile 60 Sec
STD : All Landline 120 sec
STD : All Mobile 60 sec
    ISD : as per Country
All Pulses as above are adjustable against the free 175 Pulse for H500C plan.
So use effectively and derive the maximum benefit.

even i have a confusion over Home 500 and home 500C+ , beacuse the latter has one india plan.so i cannot decide which will be more economical.

what exactly is the pulse rate for this ? i'm confused by info on bsnl site.

    for general plan its 1 call/pulse = 2 minutes.

One India plan is cheaper if you make a lot of long distance calls and calls to cellular networks. Otherwise for strict local calls, old plan is cheaper.

thanx a lot all of u.

But yesterday I asked customer care regarding info abot free calls he said all 175 calls are local calls n you can't make std call If u do they all will be chargeable

As most of members are experience users I want 2 ask them did anyone make std calls that are counted in 175 calls i.e you have 2 pay until you cross 175 calls mark.

I use my BSNL phone exclusively for Landline-Landline STD (I have better plan in my mobile for local calls & mobile STD) and my usage remains within the 175 calls. Till date I have not got any bill for additional call charges.
I think the person at the CC is not having full knowledge.

nothing like that. all your calls are recorded as

duration of call / duration of 1 call for the type of call(local/std)

    ----

if you see your telephone bill, there is a meter reading, which is the number of calls.

similar to your electricity meter: there are different appliances with different needs, but only the final reading counts !

With all due respect, you can tell the customer care person to go and boil his head.

175 calls = 175 metered pulses. Does not matter where or how they were metered.

    175 calls means

    175, 1 min calls.. or 175x60= 10500secs

your average call ranges from 10-15 mins, that equals 600/900 sec each call

90 SEC for local calls and 60 sec for mobile..60 sec for landlines of STD numbers too..

    Incorrect assumption or understanding, mickey.

175 call means 175 metered pulses on the telephone meter.

For example, if you are calling USA, then the pulse rate is 10 seconds. This means that the telephone meter will log 1 call every 10 seconds. So if you talk for 5 minutes, your meter will log 30 calls.
