Your friend is wrong its not a dial-up connection.

In Bridge mode you are giving the username and password in your WAN MINIPORT(PPPoE) Dialer which connects to your modem/router and establish the connection, there is no extra charges for that.

Same way in PPPoE Mode that is always on in this we configure the modem/router to store your username and password in the modem itself and when we switch on it gets connected.

Hope it is clear.

In Dial-Up connection we need to provide a number to dial, right here there is no number so you are not making any calls so no charges.

FALSE information.
Whichever way you connect "Bridged" Dialer mode
or
Always On ' ppp/PPPoE mode , No telephone charges.
for Broadband usage.
Also in BB dialer there is no
Phone Box to enter telephone number !-

Of course no phone charges. In PPPoE you have to enter your username & password. You are ready to go.
