Hi

I was wondering that if there is any software to save the download / upload
statistics automatically like dl/ul per sec or every 5 secs or every 1 min over a particular period of time to any file to be viewd later on . I mean sometine I keep my PC on for Night Unlimited usage . I can monitor whether my download has been regular or snapped for some reason or slow etc. When I view that file it should show me that stats for entire 5 hrs.

Any body got any inputs

if you are using utorrent,use the resolution button which logs the data download as well as the upload in 1 sec,5 sec,30 sec and 5 mins interval in the form of a graph.if you are using direct download,wait for comments from more experienced users.

Try Shaplus bandwidth meter , DU Meter(not free).

I have never used it but is it give proper record ? I mean BSNL server record and software record are totally same ? or some difference can be present.

For me: IP 59.xx.xx.xx Usage portal shows each session data.
Modem log can show break in connections.
Rarely checked. using Datafox for usage check.

If you use multiple computers and wifi mode, these meters can record only from the Ethernet/wireless lan card of each computer . Also if VOIP is connected the usage data is missed.
Modem usually records all traffic on WAN side and LAn side.
But for practical purposes these meters are good. and reliable.

Never used any such software. Try to Google for such a software.

Even if you do find such a software and even if such a s/w is able to monitor net packets and data, etc. accurately, what can one do?

I use to avoid unnecessary downloads. Sometimes while browsing , i may open a web page in background and it maybe consuming lots of resources.

I have set my monitoring utility to give beeps for each MB transferred, so i'd get an alert if lots of usage occur.

Moreover sometimes BSNL portal is not updated/accessible near the end of the month. it can come handy that time too.

Use Shaplus or Bitmeter. I use both. By this way you minimise the risk of one soft malfunction. No meter is accurate, always counter check with the values in portal because that is what matters.
