Read this before you do firmware update
Please Note : CPE Firmware Upgrade Application is ONLY applicable for UTStarcom (both Type 1 and Type 2), Nokia Siemens Networks(Type 1 ONLY) and ZTE Modems (both Type 1 and Type 2) supplied by BSNL. You wont be charged for downloading and using Self Care Software. Download will not be accounted in usage.
I was not able to update mine because mine was nokia siemens 1600 because it was type2. And the motive software won't be of much use once you learn to configure modem in pppoe and bridge mode(its very easy to learn. see Broadband How to)

    Hi,

At first I thought of opening a new thread then when I searched I got this,so posting here instead !

I finally managed (through under the table means and methods) to get a modem replacement in lieu of my conked ITI DNA modem !

Now the problem is, it has the old firmware which does not have the NAT and other options ! So I did the natural thing of downloading this motive software and ran the setup file!

First it started with usual stuff and later finished it but when to a point where the selfcare software where to be installed it failed !!

I tried to install only the selfcare software by specifically selecting it from the software folder the message is same !

Am on Windows 7 (tried on both my AMD and Intel machines with the same result) !

Anybody has used in Win7 or amyone with ideas as to why its failing every time ?

I've attached the screen shots of the errors !

    Regards.

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply !

    Am sorry I should've mentioned,What I got as a replacement is Nokia-Siemens 1600 Router !

Yes its in PPOE mode ( I have never used Bridge Mode) !!

Here's the screen shot of the modem device info page !

Btw I also downloaded the firmware zip file of 40Mb which has all the one's but siemens one's are in img format and there's no update option in the modem's current firmware !

So is there any other way of doing this ? How to I upgrade FW to the new one with port forward and all the extra features ??

    Regards.

see wa3002-g4 quick reference link below :
    try 192.168.1.1/main.html
Please avoid posting tunnel data. in Ip config /all
Interest only in LAN and WLAN.
You may also uncheck IPV6 box in Network settings.

Yeah I have removed the pic !

All of that I tried before, I even tried telnetting the modem to if I get some options !

Will see if I can find a friend with a Vista or XP machine to see that helps !!

    Regards.

    Hi,

Post Advanced options menu page screen shot.
There is no advanced option !!! all I have is regular options related to wan, lan, adsl ! Please refer to the screen shot of the modem in my earlier posts (on the left you can see what all the options I have)

you should get a similar page as hardware board is same.

Nope what you've shown is a regular one where as the NSN Modem 1600 is a wifi modem which is equivalent to the UT STARCOM WA3002G4 or Beetel - 450TC1 !

Well Am not sure opening a new thread with NAT problem will help as I need to either solve this Selfcare software issue or somehow update the firmware to the latest one without selfcare software !

I tried that firmware tool by BSNL, it detects the NSN modem and also says it has new firmware but when I select the option to update it just starts to download the Motive software and unzips it and starts the installation !!

    Regards.

    Yeah sure BXI !

screen shot your WAN page where you have entered your UserId and PW.
Here you go,I've taken out the user name for the screenshot purposes only !

When you click ADSL / on top on top what menu you get ?
I only get the basic details ! screenshot attached !

Selfcare page : (motive) see post no 52. does not apply for .
your modem type II NS1600 is a wifi router.
But the UTFW (firmware update tool) detects my modem just fine and also says there is a new firmware update !

But it just doesn't do it,which is what Am after !

The portforward problem is solved as I discovered how to open that hidden page ! also the same via telnet !

    Regards.

may be BSNL has hidden these NAT/Port forwarding dmz/ Virtual server options from users.
We have to access via telenet only !
    Para two :
After about 34000 hits to my thread wa3002-g4 etc ( two forums in one year )) you are the first person to discover something new. Please give details in same link for use of other users/members. .

    Para two :
Give feedback to BSNL Bengaluru, about the Motive software, and why you cannot Upgrade FW for Nokia Siemens networks 1600 WIFI type II modem/router.
    http://motive.bsnl.co.in
.Following software doesn’t support Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Para three : rep +++ ( 16 points ) due from me , on your feedback
