NO.

What you use between 2- 8 is not counted in chargeable units until you do not the start and stop times fall between 2 -8 slot. You need to switch off and On the modem a little after 2.00 am and 8.00 am. Hope you know how to automate this process.

What happens if we don't disconnect at 8 am? Is everything we downloaded all night gets counted in 2.5 limit? or just what we have downloaded after 8 am is counted?

It is possible that all your downloads between 2- 8 will be charged. BSNL has brought some changes recently. Not sure about it.

As per the latest system used by BSNL the server checks every 30 min if its free or chargeable time.
So if you have logged at say 2.20 then if you do not disconnect at 8, your usage till 8.20 would be free and there after it will be charged.
p.s. this is verified only for 117 ip. (newer connections)
