Default restarting to avoid miscalculation????

instead of switching of and switching on the modem at 2 to avoid miscalculation of usage by bsnl ,is it ok if we restart the computer??????

IMO...Can only work if you are on a dial up mode.

1. Do you use a dialler to connect ? If so, restarting computer will work. Actually you can simply disconnect and connect the dialler.

2. If you can connect to internet by simply switching On your modem, you need to restart your modem.

The whole point is, your connection should be restarted which cannot be achieved in method 2 without modem restart.

well i use switching on and off (PPoe).ok now how do i enable dial-up mode in router settings!!!!and dial-up can be shared in lan???i mean dialing -up directly from the shared computer???if using dial-up is it ok if i switch on the modem and keep till 2.00 without connectiing.will bsnl then calculate the usage????

if you are using multiple PC on LAN then you have to stay with PPPoE. With single system you can have bridge option. In bridge option, even if the modem is on, BSNL would not record usage till connection is established.

my modem is in upstairs and its in my parents room.so if i have to use at 2:00 then i have to go to room and switch on the modem causing inconvenience to them!!!and if i keep the modem switched on all the time then i would lose money right???Is there anything i can do to solve this???? i have got another router ut300r2u!!!!Is'nt there any solution to control the modem from the shared pc!!!and the sharing modem is wa300...

You can use Imran's Broadband Helper utility to automatically reboot the modem. All you need is to install it on your computer.
