Thread: Using the Lan + usb together on the Sterlite Mt 882.

Well most of you would recommend me a switch or a router, I do have that as an option but I would like to know whether Its possible to use the usb an the lan outs together.

I have the modem downstairs and a wire going to my wifi router upstairs, so If i could just use the usb for the laptop here and the lan going to the router it could save me money.

I saw at the sterlite user manual, that both can't be used together, have any of you tried this out ? What are the other options that I have ?
Rs. 600 on a 8 port switch ? but then I'm using only 2 of them, won't that be a waste of money .

This is the link to the specifications of the modem.

1.Mention the modelmake details of your wifi router.

2.Better to take additional RJ11 phone connection to First floor and
position ADSl splitter/modem mt882/wifi router in First floor.
Test wifi reception in ground floor.
If not successful,

3. Set up one system for Lan connection. test working ok.
Then connect the rj45 from modem to wifi router Internet port.
Enable DHCP in modem.
3 for USB PORT connection in Ground floor.
Hope you have the drivers for usb operation
Without connecting the modem download the drivers to
say c://My documents/Usb drivers Mt882.
Now connect the usb cable from Mt882 to Usb port of laptop/desktop.

Restart the system.
let windows detect new Hardware.
Ask for drivers.
Load from location above.
Follow modem settings as per Calcutta site instructions.
Skip step 15 : this will reset all settings to factory settings.
Gateway for USB port modem settings 192.168.1.2 usually.

u can use usb port & lan port of mt882 for simultaneous browsing from 2 diff pcs with gateway as 192.168.1.1 for both pcs IP must be different like 192.168.1.3 for one pc
192.168.1.4 for another pc

usb & eth act as a 2 port hub
