i am not sure what the 'huawei usb modem' is.
It is usb based though.
Also i am not sure whether it is signal dropping coz I get the maximum speed of download - about 17-19kbps.
i doubt there is any signal problem...

As far as I know it is a signal issue as wll signals have a tendency to drop every now and then whatever the reason be I dont know... this is the reason this technology was kicked out of the western countries long ago but Indians have a habit of putting up with crappy service hence this technology is still being used and the world has moved on the GSM and other better technologies and India still sees some companies going bonkers with new wll equipment and towers al the time.

I suggest you get a real broadband connection and you wont have these glitches again and would get a lot better speed as well.

Some one please correct me if I am wrong.

The modem used for WLL is same as the good old Dialup modem for 56Kbps
internet connection.
Only special settings can be entered to increase speed.
No port forwarding etc.

@admin
for ref see annexure. will split and post later.
Best site for wll details : BSNL Assam.

WLL modem is not a 56K dial-up modem. It is a wireless CDMA 1x dial-up modem. theoretically the maximum speed available is 156 kbps (19.5 KBps).
But as it works on the wireless CDMA network, the actual speed is much lower and is dependent on various factors like distance from tower, signal strength stability, obstructions in the line of sight etc.
As it is a dial-up modem, port forwarding etc is not possible.

The advanced version of the same technology is CDMA-EVDO which currently used for Reliance Mobile Broadband+, TATA Photon+ and BSNL EVDO which gives a average speed of 1 to 1.5 mbps.

You are right. 56k "dialup" modem and
cdma 1x 136Kbps "dial up" modem are not same
meant similar or compatible
but did not check the technical specifications.
error would have been avoided if i had studied the doc,
which i wanted to annexe.
Error is regretted.

Will post special settings code/s for the "dialup " modem,
and check whether it will suit the "dialup" modem used in WLL.
