    Question bsnl email

I was searching on google for information on configuring Outlook Express on my PC. As I have Broad Band connection from BSNL, I want to configure my
Outlook Express for SMTP Server & POP Server as provided by BSNL.

I located an article on India Braodband Forum (by essbebe) which mentions:

( For 59.xx.xx.xx users userID email Id same password also same
( for 117.xx.xx.xx users now UserId and email Id and Portal Id are different Three sets. )

. Can you try in OE/Outlook to access your Bsnl email ?
    pop3 ( receive)

    Smtp (send mail ) smra.bsnl.in wmra.bsnl.in or nmra.bsnl.in.

    I have the following questions:

    1. How can I find out whether I am on 59.xx.xx.xx or on
117.xx.xx.xx.xx (most of the addresses I see on Modem displays
    are 192.168.XX.XX)?
    2. What are UserID, mailID & PortalID mentioned above & where are
these used (ie on BSNL websites) & how to get these & corresponding
    passwords?
    3. While configuring Outlook Express which of :
smma.bsnl.in wmma.bsnl.in or nmma.bsnl.in is to be used for POP3
(Incoming mails to my BSNL account) &
smra.bsnl.in wmra.bsnl.in or nmra.bsnl.in. is to be used for SMTP
    (Outgoing mails from my account)?
Thanking to all. Best regards, RAKESH

    Question bsnl email

    Thanks for very useful information.

    Few clarifications needed:

UsedID - the ID used to connect Internet
What exactly it means. When do we connect to Internet using this ID?

    2. Tried link to Dataone Webmail.
Which userid & password to be used here for Dataone Webmail?
I tried mail userid which works on mail.bsnl.in but did not work here!
I tried Portal ID that too did not work!
From where to get the ID to be used for mail on Dataone Webmail?

    3. As I mentioned that in his post Mr. essbebe wrote:

    POP3: smma.bsnl.in wmma.bsnl.in or nmma.bsnl.in

    SMTP Server: smra.bsnl.in wmra.bsnl.in or nmra.bsnl.in.
    (Outgoing mails from my account)

Kindly suggest which of the above 3 POP3 servers to be configured
as POP3 server & which of the above 3 SMTP server is to be configured
as SMTP server for Outlook Express?

Also while filling - E-mail address will the address be xxxxxxx@bsnl.in or
    yyyyyy@dataone.in?

Thanking you all. Best regards, RAKESH

http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-b...tml#post237560 (e mail log in page is not available)

    1. If you use a "Dialer" mode to connect to internet.
....Else "Always On" already in WAN page of modem .

    2.
abcd @dataone.in for IP 59.xx.xx.xx users ONLY.
I tried d mail userid which works on mail.bsnl.in
    correct usage.
    3.
    ALWAYS @ bsnl.in FOR IP 117.XX.XX.XX USERS.

    4. regarding smtp POP3 see link above.
create three accounts . one of them usually works

UPDATE: Aug 29th 0925AM Please see link in Post No 8..
    Ignore Item 4.

You will need this ID only when you connect using a dialler. If you switch on the modem and can connect to internet, this ID is stored in your modem.

This was based on email from BSNL Chennai to me.

Please see this update by BSNL for abcd @ bsnl.in users.
