Default BSNL Braodband "Twilight zone effect" Please help me!

    Hi all,

I have BSNL broadband UL 750 and am in Goa. I have windows xp and have a D link GLB-802 C modem and a D link dir 300 router.

I experience line drop outs many times. I lose the link on my modem frequently. The first thing for me to do was to inspect my line and see to the faults in my wiring and the splitter. All seems fine. trhe next was to check the line from my DP box to my house. That too seems fine. But the static in my line has been observed from the DP box itself. I get some weird noises like high pitch digital crap and like a radio being tuned in SW mode.

The lines man has checked the box in my area (the big pillars that house connections) and says its fine. But I managed to get a private contractor that works for them as these are Ganesh Holidays ( and you know what happens :P ) and he says that all connections in and around my place are perfect.

Is this the fault at the exchange. I also have this problem. Whenevar am connected and i pick up my Phone, i lose DSL link.

    My values are as follows

    Remote Line Atten.: 18.0 dB
    Local SNR Margin: 11.5 dB
    Remote SNR Margin: 8.0 dB
    Self Test: Passed
    DSL Standard: G.dmt

Also if there is a crackle on my line (which i am sorry i cannot get rid of), I lose link. This all seems weird and with two years of trouble shooting experience, believe me, I have done everthing. It seems i am damned.

    Please help me

    D link GLB-802 C modem and a D link dir 300 router.
do you have user manuals or Installation Cd for both ?

GLB802C has built in ADSL splitter, , and an additional telephone
used from its port is OK.

    1. If the telphone cable has multiple pairs, there could be
pick up of other wireless signals .
Try a single pair telephone Rj11 cable of good quality.

    2. The old copper pair single strand wire with black insulation may be suitable.

    3. or ( for stop gap use / trial use ) old ribbon feeder used for TV antenna
if still available in junk stock, or hanging loose from old antenna mast!.
SNR margin seems adequate but should increase to say 20 db.
( or higher than ATTN at present 18 db)

If you got this by connecting a telephone to your line
at the junction Box Check adsl splitter connections.
Elsewhere I had given the picture.

    6. If you are in a flat complex check other wifi networks.

    7.
Also if there is a crackle on my line
[quote][/Whenever am connected and i pick up my Phone, i lose DSL linkquote].
All phones in in different rooms need additional ADSL filters.
    max 4 can be used.

Also could be due to tube lights being switched on surge/neon in starter flashing .etc/or
    other electronic gadgets.

    8. Try the modem in a different location,
    or check Power adapter.

i have the same router and it doesn't have built in Splitter. An External Splitter is provided with the package. his external Splitter may be faulty causing loss of synchronization due to crackle/noise.

@ all. I have checked this with 3 different splitters and modems, notably the D link mentioned, Huawei sterlite and UT 300 RTU.

Seems that this is a funny case, especially, when they have checked my line and that there is no detectable issue (except for crackling , that too very very faint)

    Lightbulb Splitter Installation

Do you have any phone installed before the splitter?
Splitter should be connected to the main phone Line coming to your house before any phone connection.

    Hey ronferds,

Your issue is quite similar to mine. Even your SNR margins are similar to mine.

Since you have two years of troubleshooting experience, it makes it all the more frustrating for you to face this problem (since you have already eliminated the most probable reasons)

However, as others have mentioned, it may be a splitter problem (since you say that synch. is lost on lifting the phone)

Secondly, you may clean (and even cut and re-join) the open contacts at the DP box and within the house (if any). I had used rubbing alcohol (lol) and it worked great. I had then used insulating tape to properly cover up all the wires.

You should also change all the RJ-11 cables after the splitter, in case they are old.

I had also benefitted by opening up the modem and cleaning up the heaps of dust within it (though not recommended for an in-warranty modem/router)... mine was a cheapo out of warranty Huawei.

I had also requested the local exchange guys to check my port and do whatever the heck it is that they do.

Doing all this really reduced my asynch. problems. (but it didn't change the SNRs)
