Default Speed degrade when connected to wifi router :

I have a bsnl modem with 4 lan and wifi , ut starcom .
1 LAN is connected to a computer downstairs and the other goes to a wifi router staged upstairs.
When upstairs, I can feel that the internet speed has goes down when I'm using it upstairs, because downstairs the net is a perfect 30kbps, up it is only 10.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it because of the lan extended ? but its just 2 floors above.

    Thanks

    Hi

If you are using wireless connection 2 floor up then it can happen and is normal but the things which you can try to do are
reduce distance between router and laptop (if possible)
try and change MTU on router to 1400
try to use channel 11 or 13

IMO wired connection is best and gives good connectivity with minimum problems

Post here your IP Address details (ipconfig/all) of both the Wired computer and Wi-fi computer.

If you have different segments of IP address in both wired and wi-fi computer, say
    wired computer as 192.168.1.x
wi-fo computer as 192.168.2.x then there are possibilites of slowness in your computer because of NAT.

    * Do not set your MTU as 1400. Reducing it to too low value causes unnecessary small packets to travel. Leave MTU as 1492 which may be default. If the option of MTU is Auto, change it to manual and set as 1492.

Do you have any Wi-Fi disturbances in your floor? say micro ovens and other devices approprating at radio frequency?
