    Default 750+ plan speed very slow

    I have got 750+ plan 4 days back. I have done the speed test and this is what I got. Plz help me out how to increase my speed. Is this a problem with BSNL or with my system. when I am browsing its taking hell lot of time to open up.
    Plz help... I have got UT300R2U type 1 modem.

    From you screenshot I can say
    You are getting good speed for UL 750.
    Your Download and upload speed are ok.

    For increasing speed change the plan to home 500.
    Or you can change to Plan in UL 1350.

    As already said, your speed is 250kbps which is very near to the max possible ~256kbps according to the home UL 750 (or +) plan. You are getting nearly 100% of what your speed should be which is very good.

    The next higher possible UL plan is 1350 which gives you a bit rate of 512kbps. I am using this plan (1350+) and its giving consistently 50-60KBps(on torrents). There are no higher UL plans for home users beyond this I think in BSNL.

    If you are finding that the webpages are very slow then try different DNS servers for faster web page loading ( I am using COMODO's DNS servers which are quite good, although this is a fairly a new service started by COMODO)

    Try Open DNS. It wont have much effect on speed, but the loading of pages will be faster.

    Smile Go for Airtel Broadband

    Friend Airtel has launched new plans which are awesome....

    1299...Speed @ day 512 speed @ night 1mbps UL!!
    1699...Speed @ 1mbps UL whole day!!
    do loads of data upload/download with good speed. Also there are other plans with rocking speed 8mbps but those are costly.

    Where as BSNL 750 with 255kbps , 500C upto 2mbps but limit is 2.5 GB and night unlimited but the timings are odd (2am to 8am- this is pathetic should have some practical timing).

    I used Broadband helper it really helps but what about the electricity your computer consumes? even if turnoff monitor rest of the things would consume electricity.

    I am really thinking to go for it cause BSNL is not launching good plans, plans which BSNL has are old school days, they need to be changed to stand into BB race.

    No doubt with current situation in market Bharti Airtel BB rocks...

    @swapniljs,

    The problem is Airtel does not have the reach most of the times. Quite often you call them only to discover that they are not covering the area and cannot firmly state when it will be covered.

    @just4kix

    Exactly why I had to go with BSNL .. they are even covering rural places with a pretty awesome service, even though the pricing is higher :P Already did 7GB in 3 days (with the pc not remaining on all the time thanks to powercuts )

    Airtel covers barely a stretch of 5 kms in the urban part of Tumkur, and it doesn't look that they will be covering my part in 2 years at least.. while BSNL ... well anywhere there are those landline wires broadband is possible.

    @achinbansal

    Dude, What Kind of question is that? LOL

    UL Stands for Unlimited....In that why do you need unlimited from 2 to 8 when they are offering you unlimited which is 24 hrs a day and 7 days a week (24X7)
    LOL...

    LOL...
    ok....Now I understand..
    Visit their (BSNL) Internet Page
    They have mentioned the 256 KBPS which 24X7 and no download limits and they won't be providing us with 2 MBPS because If they will do there will be more traffic on their server. So not only the current user can enjoy 2MBPS nor new users. This is what my guess is...IDK about the Real Deal!!!
    anyways if you find anything new let me know...
