Thread: sharing files on zxdsl 531b modem

hi...
i have not changed any settings of my modem zxdsl 531b.
i want to know how to share files from laptop to laptop through my modem.
i don't know anything about this modem except to connect to internet so please tell me step by step.

If zxdsl 531b have USB port then connect USB port to one Laptop and connect the other laptop with Lan port. Then sign one laptop with Ip 192.168.1.2 and the other one with IP 192.168.1.3.
In your one laptop for example in laptop 2 which have ip 192.168.1.3 right click a folder which one you like to share then go to properties then go to share tab to share the folder. Now go to laptop one which have IP 192.168.1.2 and open my document. In the address bar type this \\192.168.1.3 and then press enter. You can see the share folder.
Now you can share file and folder through your modem.

use Rj45 from Lan1 and lan2.
confirm Internet working oK.

without any cables(rj45) connection.

CONFIGURATION OF ZTE ZXDSL 531 (TYPE-2)
4-LAN/Wireless LAN

1. Connect the modem with your computer with the LAN cable and turn it on.
2. Open your internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. Type the username and password as “admin”.
3. After logging in, click Advance Setup on L.H.S. menu.
4. A table appears, check the checkbox in the first row showing pvc 0 under the head remove, then click Remove button at the bottom.
5. Click Add, ensure the vci value as 35 , click Next.

For customers using dialer for broadband
1. Select the connection type as Bridging and encapsulation as LLC, click Next.
2. Click Apply/Save, the table again appears, click Save and Reboot at the bottom of the table, wait for approx. 3 min. to automatically reboot the modem. After the modem reboots, connect your broadband using the your broadband dialer.

For customer using Always On mode
1. Select the connection type as PPPOE, click Next.
2. Type your broadband username, password provided by your ISP and service name as multiplay, click Next.
3. Click next upto the last page, click Apply/Save.
4. The table again appears, click Save and Reboot at the bottom of the table, wait for approx. 3 min. to automatically reboot the modem. After the modem reboots, confirm the stability of DSL light, after it becomes stable, you can start using your internet connection.

vansh1507 zxdsl 531b 4 lan port. So it's easy for you.
Just connect your both laptop with this router lan port.
and follow the step I mention above. You can easily share files from laptop to laptop through your modem.

thank you for your help but when i opened the advanced setup,it did not have any pvc 0 which i could remove.

i don't know anything about this modem except to connect to internet so please tell me step by step.

Connection :
If Lan1 is connected to Laptop 1
connect additional rj45 from Lan2 to laptop 2.
You should surf the Internet in either laptop.
Confirm.

Laptop1 :
Start RUN type cmd OK

type
ipconfig /all
Copy paste data here.
Same for laptop 2.
Confirm both laptops get connected .
