Question Planning for a new BSNL BB connection?

    Hi all.
I am Brij nandan. I live in Muzaffarpur,Bihar.
Few days ago, BSNL landline established in my home and now i am going to apply for Broadband connection.I have seen home plans, home UL plans, and home combo plans on BSNL portal.
For me, average speed and download limit is main factor. so i liked Home 5ooc(combo plan).
Plz suggest me a plan having good speed and download.
Another question is that is it right to connet modem myself while i am unknown about networking facts like router, modem type, DNS etc.
But i want to buy a modem from market(BSNL BB) only for desktop.
So suggest me which type of modem i need most? and what is the difference between these 4 modems?
And last question is on which company i trust for modem?
    Thanks for reading!!!

I think Home 500, 500 C or 500 C+ will suit you. Here is the list of all available plans and tariff from BSNL.

    Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

You can buy a type 2 modem if you need wifi, otherwise type 1 is ok.

I use a Nokia Siemens C 2110 modem which is ok. We can hardly have a choice while selecting the modem. They will supply the one in stock.

You can buy a type 2 modem if you need wifi, otherwise type 1 is ok.
if you intend to use only a desktop computer type 1 modem on monthly rent of rs 50/Pm advisable now.
If any problem BSNL will replace it .
If you have a laptop computer and wish to work in different rooms
in your house then go for Type IV or Type II .
(in wireless mode ) rent Rs 80/PM
As @meetdilip said we have no choice on selecting the modem model.

As a beginner outright purchase not required now.

If Installation charges are free ask BSNL to install the connection
and check you are connected to Internet.
Or If you want you can try yourself
Most of the time BSNL will give you the modem preset
for Dialer mode and give you USERID and PW to connect.
