Unhappy Problem due to night un-attended usage?

Well., this thing has been happening on my desktop for a couple of months and i've been trying to fix it on my own but in vain... now the problem is getting worser.. hence decided to post ... so let me explain the issue...

Im in the home 500 plan and hence i leave my computer and modem ON when asleep while having torrent downloads (with utorrent) scheduled to start at 2AM using the scheduler option in windows. This has been happening fine for past several years until now!

Few weeks ago, i was surprised by what i saw when putting the monitor ON the next day morning at about 6AM that i usually do to check on the download status. But what i saw was the logon prompt screen on windows!!
This thing repeated itself 'every day' that i would use the scheduled downloading..

The 1st thing i suspected was that someone was trying to hack my pc externally since i had port forwarding and something called as NAT-dmz host enabled in my router(ITI dna-a211-i) as per friend's suggestion (either of these port forward or dmz host were enabled when this kind of strange behaviour happened since my torrents wont download without them)

Run spybot but nothing big found except for couple of tracking cookies, scanned entire pc with norton and nothing found. Left the very idea of downloading torrents! 2 days back, resumed it.This time i had the dmz host disabled since i read somewhere it would keep all the ports or something on my computer open to the world.. port forwarding was still there..

however, only few of the torrent file would download and others wont work once this dmz thing is disabled. dont know why but that problem is secondary i guess..

Also, i thought i had fixed the restart option by following wat is told in this page: (Not reading what the 1st few lines said!)

Automatic Restart XP - How to Disable the Automatic Restart on System Failure in Windows XP

With the above setting on, the next day i switched on my PC expecting the same login screen at the least but he comes the 'blue screen of death!" I was totally perplexed and thought my PC and all files are gone forever. The message was as follows:

"problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent to damage to your computer. kernel data inpage error. "

after this a couple of hexa-numeric codes such as 0b0b0000i etc etc were there and at the end was the file name: "ftdisk.sys"

When i searched for this error online, some websites stated the 'data inpage' had something to do with the RAM module which may have gone faulty but i dont think that is the case as both these problem of the blue screen and the automatic rebooting to the login screen occured only when i left the PC unattended at night with the downloads going on... nothing of this sort would happen when i worked on the PC all day long...

any help would be greatly appreciated! since i would love to see my torrents back to normal again...

PS: Just a few things that i thought i could add in,although i have no idea if they are relevant.

1. My pc's BIOS battery is dead meaning my system never keeps the correct time on the taskbar and i manually keep changing it everytime i boot it up.

2. A few days before this bsod showed up, my windows profile got corrupted with this error:

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator."

Thanks for the assistance again...!

The blue screen appear because of HDD or from the RAM. System file corruption also culpit for this. If your Operating Syatem is Genuine then save your Windows CD-Key then format your C: drive and install the OS again.
You can use DMZ option, No problem from it. Dont think someone will hack you. You are in Private Network not Public Network and you are using the NAT in your router. Just Install a good Firewall application like Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 or 2010.

BIOS battery is dead meaning when ever you shut down your computer it will back to default setting of your BIOS.

This can also cause for the Blue Screen.
I am advising you to format your HDD and Reinstall the OS.

Hi.. thanks for the reply but my question would be .. if its a os corruption error.., why does'nt the error not occur even if i have the computer on and working on for more than 12 hrs(including browsing) in the 'day' but only occur when the downloads are ON at the night free time usage?

Downloding time you dont using keybord or mouse. Cheak the Power option propertise from Control Panel. There is some option like turn off HDD, Turn off monitor. Also cheak the Screen Saver option. If screen saver turn on then turn it off. You can fiend Screen Saver ropertise from Display option.

Im afraid i dont understand your verdict..
are you saying that NOT using my keyboard/mouse at night downloading makes the error to occur?

Then format your HDD and reinstall the OS
And another thing is that running torrent dosenot seems to the Computer it self are using. If you want to know then you can test it your self. Set your Screen Saver to 1 minutes and run your torrent client and start downloading and dont tuch anything and dont use Mouse and KeyBord. After 1 minutes the ScreenSaver will appear in your Monitor screen.

There is an option using which we can remove this log in screen. It happens when the system is idle (ie, no keyboard and mouse activity). If anybody remember how, please share.
