BROADBAND USAGE THROUGH SMS

Value addition in respect of Broadband Usage on mobile through SMS is implemented for all Broadband customers of Chennai Telephones .To know the Broadband usage the customer has to send SMS in the following format,

bbu<space>044telephonenumber

---To 52295 from BSNL mobile
---To 9448077777 from other mobile

There are no charges - free service from BSNL. I am getting periodic updates on usage also.

You will be charged as per your operator sms charges.

You could be right but I am sure that I did not see any special charges on my cell phone bill.

Checking Bsnl broadband usage has always been a mission and we get hundreds if not thousands of visitors every day trying to find out how to check their broadband usage as Bsnl's portal where we can check our usage is down more often then not.

Well if you are one of the bsnl broadband users with a limited plan then here is some good news for you You can now check your usage by sending an SMS

You will need to get your mobile number registered with bsnl first to be associated with your broadband account so they know that the right full owner wants the details and not some xyz.

You have to send SMS in the following format, “bbu<space>044telephonenumber” and send it o 52295 from BSNL mobile or to 9448077777 from other mobile network phone.

Right now this SMS service will only be available to Bsnl broadband users in Chennai circle. If you would like to find out more on this please dial 1500 from your bsnl phone.

Small correction there is no need to register your mobile with bsnl to get the usage details.

Non BSNL mobile network users will be charged as per their respective plan.

So that means if I know your land line number I can just send an sms and Bsnl will reply me back giving me the exact amount of data you have used? That doesnt sound very professional to me Bsnl "wake up" The sarkari days are long gone and people demand real service.... If as you said you don't need to register then I am afraid this sms thing looks like a "jugad" to me and bsnl needs to get their act together on this one.

I have signed in for mobile service & it gives me details of usage every week.. No sms's to be sent to activate.. Done from your logged in account & i dont think anyone else can access it..

I have registered for SMS alerts. I get usage details - once per week of the billing cycle. But it would be nice is you could have usage check on SMS on demand, all over India.

The facility of Chennai should be extended to all over India.
