I'll paraphrase my wordings again. I have tried attaching docs/pdfs/picture images etc in Yahoo, Gmail mail accounts. I'm not able to upload/attach. This is not only related to mails but also other websites. I have tried uploading pictures in social networking sites like orkut/facebook. Still problem persists
    will post suggestions later.

    Hi,

I dont use any firewall. Only the Windows firewall is automatically enabled. I even tried disabling the windows firewall, still the problem persists.

    Lightbulb Upload Problem

Have you reset the modem and reconfigured it?

if you have GPRS connection (can borrow from friend too ), check whether you can upload using that connection or not.

In your modem MT880 please check, whether
there is an access control page . ( see under Advanced )
Check the options are selected for WAN, like http ftp telnet etc.

    Example page from Beetel 220BX:

    Have you tried this:

if you have GPRS connection (can borrow from friend too), check whether you can upload using that connection or not.
if you can upload using that connection then the problem is with the network beyond your router (BSNL Exchange) or else problem lies with your PC.

PS: Access Control List controls the access to your router only.

    @Karamjeet

I don't have a GPRS connection to check that.

    @essbebe

The Advanced Tab has the default settings. I have not touched it till date.
The Virtual Server and Applications status are Enabled. All filters are disabled. Firewall and RIP are also disabled.

Default SmartAXMT880 upload large attachments fails

    Problem]
I'm not able to upload/attach files in mails that are big sized... Even files greater than 200kb approx I'm not able to attach in any web mail, in any browser.
I'm using BSNL Broad Band. Modem is SmartAX MT880.
    Tried
    1. MTU change. now 1492 to 1400 tried.
    2. browser cache increased.
    3. reset modem settings.

    . 4. Formatted OS 2 months back ( problem started )
    5. Access control page settings Checked in MT882
    menu page not available.
    WAN /LAN settings
    for HTTP:/FTP/telnet

    Query :
1.Have you updated your OS XP to Sp2 or Sp3 ?
    2. What is the max size of attachment you could upload
in email client /forum etc. ( say 100KB or 150 KB?)
    3. could you attach a jpg picture here in this forum ?
    4. Confirm Windows Firewall/ or any other being used .

    Default Solved !! :)

    Hi all...

Thanks a lot for your prompt replies. I had learnt new tips related to modems and routers. Thnx to all of you ppl...
I phoned BSNL helpline no. 1500 and registered a complaint on this upload problem. I got a call frm BSNL guy saying to check... and eureka... !! It works

But am curious to know what is the exact cause of the problem i had been facing for quite few months... If anyone could explain, it would be really helpful.

    Thanks
    Ranjit
