Thread: Help regarding wireless compatibility

hello to all geeks.

I'm planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 14/14z lappy. I have a Siemens SL2_141 modem+router at home. I plan to use my lappy to surf while my desktop sits idle.(my desky is full crappy and archaic).

I want to connect my lappy wirelessly to my router. My router is configured in PPPoE mode. The problem lies that which 802.11(blah blah) connection does the router support???

Dell provides me 2 options for the wi-fi mini-card......one supporting 802.11b/g and another supporting 802.11a/g/n. If my bad luck prevails , I'll end up buying the costlier 802.11a/g/n one while my router would support 802.11b only.
Also, I'm stuck at the fact that I might need to connect to other wi-fi and WLAN networks as well,so I need maximum support too.
