Thread: ITI DNA a211 l wifi modem problem. Plz HELP!!!!

I have a bsnl iti DNA a211 l wifi modem. Everything was working fine till the power adapter of the modem gave in.I replaced the power adapter but now the modem works for only 15-20. mins and after that power LED goes off but all the Ethernet LEDs light up.(earlier they were off as I surfing net only through wifi)

Can anyone help me with this problem.

Power adapter rating:O/p 10 volt DC and 1 ampere current.

What you meant by Ethernet LEDs...

did you meant DSL, INT, WIRELESS LED's of modem/router.

OR

NIC/LAN Card LED's on your system, because this modem dont have LED's on the RJ45 connection ports.

1.If you had purchased the unit from BSNL, you can get replacement
within an year.
2. If on rental basis also, they may replace both router and power unit.

3.This model reported "buggy" and you may get a different model.

4. Power adapter : Check whether getting too hot. Cheap types
tend to have unstable output.
Hope you are using exact replacement.

5. A software upgrade also available.

The power adapter I have purchased has 1 amp o/p while the original one had 750 mA rating but the shopkeeper said it will work fine. The same was said by other shopkeepers.Also i m not getting 750 mA rating adaptor anywhere else.The BSNL guys are not willing to replace the modem even though it is in warranty period.I guess I have to do few more rounds of BSNL office to get it replaced.Can anyone share their experiences as how to approach bsnl to get modem replaced.Do I have file written complaints.pls help.

As said above ITI DNA modems are buggy there is no doubt i too had one got it replaced.

I think you shoud try to get one adapter which has the same specifications then try, hope the problem is in the adapter which made the modem unstable, because it worked fine for you before that.

Try a software upgrade.

Approach the SDE of your exchange with the modem, they wont accept but try to convince them might help, give repeated visits might help.

Thank you very much for replying.I will try to find a perfect replacement for the adapter and also try to bribe Bsnl guy into replacing it. BTW which modem did u get as a replacement.

I got UTStarcom WA3002G4, it depends on what they have in hand for replacement.

Try you best to get it replaced.

Am having DNA-A211-I wireless modem (not using in the wireless mode). It uses a power supply 10V at 750 Milli ampere rate. The power supply got damaged. I have constructed a power supply with 12Volt 750 milli ampere Transformer, with LM-317 IC. But modem does not works properly.

There were 4 Ethernet led-lights , PWR led-light,INET led-light DSL led-light and WLAN led-light. Usually when power is on -- at first INET and all the 4-Ethernet port lights blinks for a second then goes off, Then power led lights up, and the the connected Ethernet port led-light lights up. Then DSL light gets on.

When my power supply is given the modem is stuck at the first step ie all the Ethernet port led-lights and INET led-light is constantly on. And the modem is not working to connect to the DSL line. Any one there to help me?

replacement transformer rating :

12Volt 750 milli ampere Transformer

In the DC plug ( original ) any polarity marked ?

yes it happened with me too.

i have to replace the modem to get rid of it.

u too do this but buy another model not dna-a211-i.

I too am facing the same problem of all Ethernet LEDs glowing and Internet light glowing but Power, DSL and Line LED lights are off and unable to connect to internet.....My Modem is 14 months old Anyone know anything helpful?

Update:

I went to my nearest BSNL office with the modem and they checked it there and found the adapter faulty. I was given a new adapter with 10 V DC and 550 mA rating (original one was 10 V DC and 750 mA)...but it is working now.....they did not charge me any money but noted down my number....may get some charges in next bill....
