Rep Power: 2 | Well it has been quite some time since bsnl upgraded their internet services. I'm tired of stupid capped broadband services and speeds of unlimited plans are aweful. I though they would improve the speeds and plans this year. My hopes were too high. Does anyone know of any improvements/declination of BSNL broadband. |

BSNL Kolkata is in the process of upgrading its broadband backbone from the present ADSL system to VDSL which will allow maximum speed up to 26 Mbps in its internet highway. Also the article from 30th Jul 09. I seriously need better Broadband and low ping values for online gaming. | |

Rep Power: 1 | where do you live ? Bsnl seems to be pretty awful for gaming; since the latency and packet loss is so ridiculously high. It's sad that most alternatives cost 2000-5000 rupees/month. Internet is extremely costly in india and to get decent speeds and a reliable connection the costs are hideous. Gaming in India is not even in it's infancy. Indians have an aversion to gaming and consider it to be something very childish/immature. Even children are completely discouraged from them. Online fps is a sick joke since 1) there are no servers for recent games in India and 2) latency/packet loss is so high you will never be able to hit your target unless at point blank range. You can probably play MMOs but you won't be able to participate in anything meaningful thanks to our glorious reliability - crappy internet + power outages. Consequently there is no market for gaming or interest from ISPs to support it. I guess single player games are the only option really. Last edited by rsen; 09-20-09 at 08:57 AM. |
