Default Fantastic Networking Problem - plz help

    HI

Here is a serious question to think on. I request that only those having networking knowledge answer this. So take time to read and understand this question.

My friend stays on 4th floor and has 1 PC , 1 Laptop and 1 wi-Fi router. Now, he can access internet on PC as well as on laptop or either of each as per his wish. Also his PC and his Laptop are on Wi-Fi LAN and hence can share files and can play LAN games with his bro. He is having Reliance wi-max internet connection.

I am staying on 1st floor. I am having 1 laptop and 1 Wi-Fi router. I am using internet connection from BSNL.

In the end, what i want is my friend’s laptop, his PC and my laptop in LAN so that we can share files and play games.
We don’t want to share internet connection as we have our own ISP.

is this possible ? Also note that we need to access NET and LAN at same time.

Note: i have posted it here because i am a BSNL user

that may be possible only with ccproxy. I don know if lan card can do this or not. By the way, nice fantastic query subject. Enjoy life.

sorry, i don't claim to be an expert nor a network professional (I got picked up by my co halfway thru my CCNA ).

However, I suggest u look into the following:
    a. A lot of routers support direct WLAN router to router communication in addition to handling internet traffic on their own. If ur routers support this, then that's the first step.

    b. The above plan, as mentioned, can be done thru proxy programs. In fact, search around some of the gaming forums on the web...they have detailed instructions on how to setup WLAN bridges, etc.

    c. Speaking of bridges, u may definitely need a (W)LAN switch with advanced capabilities. Like I said, some routers come with switch capability.

edit: setting up a wired LAN, ofc, requires expensive and frustrating cabling. It could be done, but then u have the same problem of telling ur LAN cards to talk to ur modems AND to each other.
