    Unhappy frequent disconnection

I have combo 500 plan and I am facing severe problems with BSNL..I am getting frequent disconnections from past 4 days. My modem is DNA A211 and when I use internet, the DSL light should remain ON continuously. But from the past 4 days, the DSL starts blinking and internet gets disconnected. When I try to reconnect, it says Error 678. After a few seconds, the DSL light stabilizes and I am able to reconnect. This is happening every 5 minutes on average....Another problem is that I get error 676 (phone is in use) every night during the Unlimited period (2-8 am).....as a result, I am unable to download anything from past 1 month. .....I am going mad literally because of BSNL....Nothing has gone right for me with BSNL....
Does anybody else face the same problem? Is there something wrong with the modem (I never had problems until now with the DSL lights)

If DSL Led's goes unstable means there is problem with your line. Check SNR, Attenuation values.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Check the Wires

The leading-in cable (drop wire) from the junction box (DP box) to your house should be as straight as possible, should be of a single length without any joints. The wires should not be coiled anywhere and should be away from electrical lines. With these types of irregularities, i.e with joints or coiled or near power cables, your phone might work fine but the DSL link may not hold and work satisfactorily.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I too had strange problems when i had ITI-DNA-A211-I router one month it worked without any problem but from second month it started to give many problems Refer my thread: Wired problem with DataOne (Wired problem with DataOne.)

As quoted by bsnl the ITI-DNA-A211-I router has got some compatibility issues.
They replaced the modem, i got UTStarcom, got my port changed now trouble free, enjoying stay with bsnl.

I will request you to get one good modem/router from somewhere and check how it works this way you will come to know where the problem is.

Default simple Solution That can make you feel better

Connection problem is at bsnl end most probably due to server problems or due to wiring. All you can do now is configure your modem to connect automatically by entering user n pass accessing the modem ... So you wont have to dial whenever it gets disconnected even if you use vista auto dialer the solution provided is better..

I was on the same plan now moved to HOME UL 750. I use same modem as you use. If you need help in tweaking settings be free to ask.

Check your SNR margin. It should be higher then 20db

    If it is Then

    8db or low Frequent disconnection
8-12db Somewhat stable but occasional breakdown
    12-20db Stable Connections
    20-30db Very good
    30db and above Excellent

SNR margin totally depends upon how your modem is connected to the nearest pole, if there are any joints remove them.
Check the condition of your wire.
If everything is OK , then call BSNL CC.
