^ I could not get your problem . can you
    give more details ...

your modem has a reset hole at back side .
power on the modem . take a safety pin and
push it into reset hole to press a switch for
about 15 seconds . modem resets to factory
    default settings .

    Now make a new internet connection dialer ;
give your username & password to connect .

see the configuration details click here

^ I feel that you should connect thru LAN .
LAN connection is more stable than the USB .

    in your network properties :
    Gateway should be 192.168.1.1
    IP address : 192.168.1.xxx ( here xxx = any of 2 to 255 )
    subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
    Preferred DNS : 61.1.96.69
    Alternate DNS : 61.1.96.71

The exact details are given in the
    above Linked document

I had the same problem a few months back and i was able to resolve it by altering the Lan settings.

try changing the LAN setting by going in Control Panel>Network connection>right click on LAN and choose properties and click on Internet Protocl>click on properties and then go to advanced tab adn then change the spee dto 10 Mbps Full Duplex or 10Mbps half duplex. It should work

here are some cool stuff from Microsoft to resolve your kind of issue

    Check the TCP/IP settings.
    • If the TCP/IP settings are now correct and it is possible to browse the Internet, code and close the ticket.
    • If the TCP/IP settings are now correct, but it is not possible to browse the Internet, go to step 4.
    • Otherwise, continue.

Manually configure TCP/IP addresses and reset the modem. After the modem has reset, change TCP/IP back to automatically obtain its settings.
    • Manually configure the TCP/IP settings. (go to support.microsoft.com) type the knowledge based articles
813082 > How to: Manually configure TCP/IP Settings with MSN DSL 800
813081 > How to: Manually configure TCP/IP Settings with MSN DSL 1000

Thanks Roy, your links really help. Are these documents specific to a particular operating system?
