Thread: Broadband to Laptop without router

Hi,

I currently have zxdsl 831aii router from Dataone that works just fine to connect to internet. The problem is when there is a power outage. My inverter doesn't quite last to power up the router. Someone suggested taking the broadband connection (I presume the phone jack that currently goes into the router) straight to my laptop so that I can be connected. For this I was told I need to do some tweaking/configuration on my laptop to have the connection recognized.

Tried searching the net and this forum but no luck. Any suggestions if this can be done or am I out of whack?

Without router BB wont work. If i am not wrong then you want to connect phone jack to modem of your laptop and want to use it as BB then you are wrong it will become dialup connection.

Check NETONE Internet dialup connection. ( connect only when needed )
NETONE - BSNL
Select your STATE/TOWN>.
Keep BB connection as it is.
From the Phone Port an Rj11 cable is connected to Phone Port of Laptop.

Use a dialer to connect. ( usually laptops have a 56 K dialup modem )
( Note From ADSL splitter Phone port connection
Not tried. may attenuate DATA signals.)
Try direct connection from Phone connection.
Your Phone will not work when using Netone Dialup internet connection.
Maximum speed possible 2 KB/sec to 4 KB/sec (* max theoretical KB/sec)
ONE MB file may take 6 to 10 minutes to download.
