Hello everyone
I am new to this forum,i want to connect my computer with my cousins pc to share some files, both of us are having bsnl dataone connection, Is this possible. I heard that it is possible to create network, any idea
^ assuming that both of you are at different places ...
to share the files , we also have to use the internet .
i.e. the shared data comes under data usage of both
uploading and downloading .
and we need to know the OS of you & your cousin .
you both may have to setup a webserver in your systems .
it is not impossible but could be difficult to achieve !
I agree with you mmm.
But goks what exactly are you looking to achive with this coz its not gonna let you share a 10gig file in mins coz the data transfer speed will still be the one which you are paying for. If you are looking for something on the lines of a VPN (virtual private network) then you would have to pay for it as far as i know and it isint cheap in UK dont know about India.
I am not too sure why would you wana share your personal files using BSNL network. When there are other easier and FREE ways to do so i woudnt suggest you to go for that. You can use sendthisfile.com
Its FREE guys send any file to your friends/cousins and do it absolutely FREE.
@ gok u can share files with u r cousine easily by using web servers as u got reply from --Member it is not that much hard u can install any web servers
like tomcat (open source ) and u can configure i.e a specific folder is provided for sharing the files we can use it as we are using in internet.
if windows platform IIS is suggested.
I am not sure that networking possible in BSNL DataOne service. I never found any other system in networks.
Some time i seen my old ISP's system list but can't access it.
I will give you a very simple and practical suggestion. If you ever get achance visit your local internet cafe's and ask them for there ISP. I am sure most would say BSNL> They have got all of there computer on network. Take there help.
If you only wana put a few computer like say for examle only 2 then use a system with WinXP and use a cross over and get the LAN settings done(you'll find it in other thread in this forum). But if you want more then you would need a system with windows server operating system on it, a router/switch from BSNL, ask them for a ip address and tell them that you would be using multiple intranet ip's to access through that IP(i am hoping with this they give you more bandwidth). If your budget is high go for a ISDN line from bsnl.
as rajat.pay suggested, use some free sites to transfer your files.. dont play too hard on this one if your are billed on hourly basis
