Default very annoying website loading issue

    Hi everyone,
So i have bsnl basic 250 home plan. Speed and connectivity are OK. The biggest problem is a lot of sites wont load all the time. But they do later for no reason and will fail again at some point. I know for sure the site is not down because I had someone check it while i was trying here. But most of these sites are US and the person who checked for me was also there.
I'm not able to understand this bizzare behavior. when this loading failure happens i have tried both firefox and IE and the result is same.
Does this happen to anyone else? is it related to BSNL DNS?
    Thanks
    -MR

imrock, meetdilip..Thanks for your quick reply. works just great with that change only tiny bit slow. So is this common with bsnl and do you both use open dns as well? I have never changed this setting in the past and I'm surprised it makes such a big difference.
    Thanks again.

Change the DNS values in your router also to OpenDNS.

Try TCP Optimizer and change your MTU.

Most of us use Open DNS. BSNL DNS is not that reliable.

BSNL customer service is asking to enter these info for ip,subnetmask and gateway.
    192.168.1.10
    255.255.255.0
    192.168.1.1
but after doing i couldnt load any site..everything went down..but when i switch back to "obtain ip automatically" it started working. I explained them the same thing and they dont have an answer and told me that i can just leave it the way it is if it started working but if that was the recommended way why it isnt working for me? Is the info correct?
    clearlly they have no idea.

You don't need to configure IP Address, Subnet mask and Default Gateway in PPPOE Mode (Always on). The MODEM will assign this automatically.

If it's Bridge Mode (Dial up) then only you need to enter them in "Local Area Network" connection properties.
