| Junior Member | No idea how I did it... hehe.. I mean I did not mess around with any setting. Maybe I'm just plain lucky. Although I'm the only one in my area with a BSNL connection (could be 2-3 more but definitely more than that). That could play a role in my speeds. Only god and BSNL guys know. I know the limited UL speeds suck, esp on pvt trackers. |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi I am megha Syam , i think you can get this info from the dataone.in web unfortunately , i have visited your fourm recently and have seen those posts and i would be sad to say that i work with BSNL in an officer rank. I look after BSNL Broad band and i think i may be of llittle help. usually BSNL provides its services in differenct speeds depending on the plan package like: home 250 : 256 Kbps : 1GB home 500 : 256 Kbps : 2GB home 1000: 384 Kbps : 5GB and other Business plans but from Jan1, 2007 it has given a 2Mbps speed access to every one ,i.e your speed can reach upto 2Mbps ,which i can assure is not possible every time ,but 1.4 download and 640 upload is quiet possible and this i can tell as i have verified multiple times. the best part of bsnl Broadband is that it charges on the basis of Mb downloaded after your prescribed limit is over |

Rep Power: 0 | Sorry to interfere here ...! I've the 900 plus plan ... I never get a speed above 256kbps, i.e. a max download/upload spped of 32KBPS. I dont know if I'm right in saying the following- BSNl has not increased the speed limit to 2mbps all over the country. If you are speaking about a sepcific area, then it may be ok. I stay in Pune. At least in Pune it hasn't happened yet! |

Well actually the increased speeds have affected only the customers in the above mentioned plan. i.e. Home 250, Home 500, Home 1000 and business plans. The speeds for "Plan900 plus" has not changed at all and I think it is already mentioned on the dataone website. I think you misinterpreted what "lakkuMS" was trying to say. He was clarifying on the speeds issue for customers of limited bandwidth plans. These speeds do not apply to your plan at all. Cheers Vzx | |

| Junior Member | It feels nostalgic to look back on my posts right now and wonder at that unique "sense of achievement" I got when I upgraded to BSNL 2mbps plan |

Rep Power: 0 | Are you guys are using Unlimited Plans.. In my Home 500C plan i usually get 80 - 85 kBps upload speed. My average download speed is 220 - 250 kBps for good torrents. Look my UTorrent Speed Graph. ![]() : Another point is to be noted is the difference between kBps and KBps : Kilobyte (KB or K) = 1024 bytes (2 ^ 10) "binary kilobyte" kilobyte (kB) = 1000 bytes (10 ^ 3) "decimal kilobyte" Kilobit (Kb) = 1024 bits (2 ^ 10) "binary kilobit" kilobit (kb) = 1000 bits (10 ^ 3) "decimal kilobit" KBps = Kilobytes (1024 bytes) per second (binary) kBps = kilobytes (1000 bytes) per second (decimal) Kbps = Kilobits (1024 bits) per second (binary) kbps = kilobits (1000 bits) per second (decimal) bps = bits per second Usually : 256 kbps = 32 kBps |
