I have a BSNL dataone modem which i normally use with Laptop but i connected it to my desktop and was able to access internet for only One day. Since that day i am nt able to access internet neither on desktop nor on Laptop. I feel its a Hardware address conflict as i switched computers. ( this is told to me by BSNL technician who installed the device at my home). Please help me as to what i need to do to resolve it as he ic charging me a lot to fix this issue. |

| I dont think the details are required. Yes, Rajat there is a hardware conflict error. Every hardware component has a differnt hardware address called the MAC address and when you connected your broadband to your desktop, the MAC address which is stored in the memory is the MAC address of your desktop's NIC and when you switch over your internet connection to your laptop the computer still expects the MAC address of the desktop's NIC. But, since the MAC address of the Laptop is different you get Hardwar conflict. I can suggest you to call your isp and reset your MAC address. But, this is not a permanent solution to this problem. |

| You were right Sandra, flushing the MAC address and resetting it resolved the issue. |

| i am still wondering, how this could have happened, as the computer flushes the any sort of cache while shutting down making other on the netowrk aware of it going offline.. any dumb switch is not MAC savy.. still wondering .... |
