Unhappy Please help me! I have broadband connection only when the pnone is engaged

    Hello everyone,

Please help me to solve my problem. For the last two days I have broadband connection only when the phone is engaged i.e. only when i call anyone and hold the line. This also is for a few minutes. As soon as the phone is put down the broadband connection gets disconnected.
I would like to add that I had good speeds and regular connection for the last one year.
What is the problem? please help.

remove adsl splitter and all phones.
connect directly rj11 from Phone junction to modem and try.

    2. With phone engaged and Internet data ( BB on )is on , do you get
"hiss" sound in the phone ?

    3. your modem/model make. GLB802C. does it need a separate adsl splitter?

    4. you are reporting the same problem after a month.
How was it solved earlier ?

I have tried connecting the phone line directly to the modem, but then broadband connection is established but I cannot browse any sites.Changed DNS but of no use.

Last month I had changed the cable wire from BSNL box to the splitter and the problem was solved.

But now I have it again. I visually verified the cable and there is no damage.

    Please help.

Yes I get "hiss" sound in the phone With phone engaged and Internet data ( BB on )is on ,

Yes my modem/model make. D-LinkGLB802C. does need a separate adsl splitter.

    1..
Have you interchanged the "LINE" and PHONE" port ?
    2.
    else ADSL splitter is faulty.
    3.
OK> GLB802C needs external adsl splitter.
    doubtful.
    4.
Download the manual. ( if you don't have installation cd )
    5.
The function of the adsl splitter is to block
data signals entering the telephone instrument..
Data signal is Always directly connected to Modem.
    6.
If you have other parallel phone connections in other rooms use additional adsl splitter for each.
    Maximum 3 allowed.
    7.
    Copy/Paste following data
    Start run type cmd Ok
    New window
    type ipconfig /all

Thanks for the advice 'essbebe'. Come monday I will buy a new ADSL splitter and test.
No I don't have any parallel connection before the splitter.
Yes my modem requires a ADSL splitter and it came with the modem itself.
    Thanks again

Even I faced same problem twice. The first time it got solved itself after 3 days, But the second time ( only a few days back) I had to call the line man. Even though he cleared the rust of all the cable joints, it is still there. I tried different splitter, but nothing changed. Surely its a line fault, but with regard to broadband it is really difficult to find out line faults. It is so much sensitive to signal interference that even powerful radiation emitting devises can create havoc at anytime. I have heard that AM radio signals, street lamps, Christmas fancy lights, electric water pumps can deteriorate the signal strength. Even if your neighbor has a broadband connection (from the same operator), it may cause signal deterioration.

I wonder when it'll be available in India. I badly need it.
