Rep Power: 12 | @rakesh1988 Huawei and UTStar websites/forum always ask you contact the ISP who supplied the modem/router. You won't get FW update/s from them. latest post june 2008. http://forum.huawei.com/jive4/thread...hreadID=319519 2. Beginning of the thread Post 1. one link given. rapidshare. RapidShare: Easy Filehosting ( may be still available) If FW is not done properly you have what you call a "bricked" router. Useless. 3.Tell the reason you want to update existing FW and what you expect out of it ? 4.Post screen shot of the Device Status page ( usually the summary page ) to check present version. http://i7.tinypic.com/4e1k3gj.jpg 5. I can give you Russian links later on, depending on your feedback. Below deleted. Please ignore. [s]but from your post, I fear/am afraid you will spoil the modem.[/s] |

Rep Power: 12 | Huawei Technical Forum: Revert to factory firmware of MT841 ... Maintain status quo ! Only hope Post No 1 link. For stable operation try GDMT. If Port forwarding problem,or option not available, post here. Try http://192.168.1.1/hwhtml/pMain.html for any new advanced menu options. |

Rep Power: 12 | @jee.ramesh.1983 MT841 FW update ==== reg Download the firmware to say D:/mt841 firmware. The link may be deleted in Rapidshare and may not be available later. Even now you can check availability. If at a future date you are advised /think FW is to be updated , Try then.. There is no query from you, reg any modem or surfing problem. . |

| Platinum Member | If your router is working as per your satisfaction, then do not upgrade the firmware. Never upgrade firmware simply because someone tell you to do so. Remember the golden rule: If it ain't broken, don't fix it. |

Major questions: - Is your modem failing to connect consitently? - Are you suffering slow speeds for no apparent reason? - Do you feel that you are not getting some feature that is available in other router that would make your surfing life wonderful? - Is your modem leaving security holes in your connection? - What gains will you make by the update? - Finally, will the firmware update fix any or all of the problems mentioned above? Minor questions: - Is the firmware update safe? - Will your ISP continue to support you after firmware update? - Firmware update requires that the modem needs to be power ON during the entire update process. Do you have UPS for modem?

Rep Power: 12 | I have never in my life updated firm ware for any modem I have ever used... They all worked fine and if something is working fine I dont see a need to make changes.. Its not the India cricket team we are talking about that would need experimenting from time to time The only time I every tried to upgrade a firmware was my netgear router and after upgrading it started behaving strangely so I rolled it back Let your ISP decide if you need a firmware update or not |
