I voted for bsnl because am using it.

While choosing will look out for:

    - Quality of service in the area

    - Plans being offered

This is the general problem with Airtel.

Now-a-days, the city authorities are not allowing digging for cable layout. And they are charging a hefty amount as rent for underground cables.

I think most people would have only one of the two services,
    but not both.

In that case, it'd be difficult to make an impartial choice.

I myself have been using BSNL for about 2 years now.

There have been outages a couple of times lasting 3 days, 5 days and like.
But these were all zonal outages and barring those, the service has
    been pretty good.

    BSNL for now.

Airtel BB not available in my area that's the only reason opted for BSNL.
When enquired about Airtel the CC replied it might be another 1 year to start service in my area .

i will choose airtel broadband. because they provide 2 Mbps unlimited at 2999 Rs. per month. bsnl didnot provide a unlimited connection at 2 Mbps.

    Exclamation Temporary broadband

I use BSNL at home but there are times when I go out of town for a week or so but still need to access the internet. Is there an option with any of the service providers where I can hire a data card for short periods of time.

I feel that for any n00b its good to have airtel connection
    Reason:- Calls are always attended
Airtel will rectify any problem as soon as possible
Getting the BB connection is very easy. just need to call the Airtel cool

about BSNL, You need to have a flare to rectify the problem yourself if not You ll wind up getting frustrated. just have a look at the threads in this forum and you ll have an idea.

    Good luck

Wrong...It depends on your area..same is the issue with my friends Airtel Connection...he is too frustrated and now will switch to BSNL.

What want to say is ,in India, you can't say which ISP is better and which is not. You can only compare plans they offer..but not service...even if you take a look at Airtel forum, it has got its problems.
And Bsnl CC sucks thats why people post problems here and hence multiple threads for same problems which does not means that BSNL users are frustrated.

So for me..both ISP's are good and it depends upon service in your area.

Agreed that based on area the providers will be (in)consistent.. even though what I said goes against BSNL I voted in favour of BSNL and any unit (ISP) IMHO is a combination of all the services that they provide and not just the plan(s) and the no. of people getting satisfatory result(s). It's really not possible to satisfy each and everyone in this world.

    Happy posting

i agree that BSNL is not good in its own ways but its better than airtel.

And also there is no Airtel Local Exchange in my area.
