    Default Slow download speed

I have 256Kbps unlimited download plan in BSNL broadband. Previously I was using Airtel 256kbps unlimited plan. What I notice now is, my download speed (in utorrent client) is very less in bsnl connection (avg of 11 to 15kB/s) compared to airtel (23 to 28kB/s).

Kindly let me know where there can be any problem in connection/router configuration

    Regards,
    Bala

Start > run > cmd > ipconfig/all, post the screen shot

Please post your SNR and attenuation values.

    Try TCP/IP optimizer from speedguide.net

If it is only for torrents, try port forwarding.

For port forwarding, do we mandatorily need a static IP?

In Advanced Option under NAT you will not have
Virtual server/Poret triggering option with the new Ut300R2U
    modem supplied by BSNL.
    Only DMZ available.
Your computer's IP address is the "Pseudo" Static IP address..
    say 192.168.1.8

Also try Opendns 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
Can also change Mod to GDMT.
Uncheck ADSL2+ in DSL menu page.

You do not need a static IP for port forwarding. Go to portforward.com, select your modem from the list. Please post a screen shot of utorrent. Are you sure that you have enough seeds for that torrent ?

I have downloaded the PKCONFIG, but UT300R2U is not there in the model, so I am not able to proceed further.

I have given the snapshot here...

The little I know about Dataone Broadband Services offered by BSNL

Open WAN page and instead of uncheck ppp/PPPOE and select "Bridged"
SAVE reboot. Wait for two minutes
Now you have to use a "Dialer" in Computer
and enter UserId and PW to connect.

Thanks for the link. How do I create a dialer?

In the mean time, yesterday night I have noticed that the yellow icon in my utorrent turns automatically to green. but now again, it has changed to yellow (sometimes in red!!!). I am seeing that torrent speed goes up to 33kb/s sometimes!!!

    Thanks essbebe

I have configured the bridge connection. Do I have to connect to internet (through dialer) each and everytime I login to my computer? Can it be automated?

I can see that the icon is green in utorrent (port forwarded!!!). I will comment on the speed tomorrow as it will take some time to realize it.

    Thanks for you help

Yes. To connect, you need to use dialler each time.
