I have Home 500 plan and I do all my downloads at around 6am in the morning.

I get an average download speed of upto 220KB/sec.

I recommend using Flashget download manager if you're already not using one.
I've tested quite a few download managers and I found this to give highest
    download speeds.

    Hope that helps,
    Thanks.

ISPs shows their speed in Kilo bits... 2 Mbps means 2 mega bits per second. if you want convert Kbps to KB/S, divide Kbps by 8. inthe case of 2 Mbps,
    2 Mbps = 2000 Kbps
    2000/8 = 250
    To convert KB/s to Kbps
    multiply 8 into KB/s.

I completely agree with you here. Though I'd like to add that since there's no other option, people will keep coming here. Its high time for BSNL to upgrade speeds. And, no I don't want to know about their crappy new plans, hovering over the line of insanity and excessive profiteering!
