Default how to configure with Static IP in LAN

We have a BSNL Broadband connection without any static IP. The router/modem model is DNA-A211-I ADSL2+ by ITI. We have a LAN with 20 computers. The switch is d-link 24 port 100 mbps unmanaged one. All computers have Win XP-P and are within a workgroup

I have connected the modem/router to a port in the switch and created a PPPoE connection in a PC with Fixed IP Address 192.168.0.120, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, DNS as 192.168.0.1. I have shared the PPPoE connection for internet sharing.

Other PCs in the LAN dont have PPPoE connection and they have been assigned Fixed IP Addresses from 192.168.0.101 to 19.168.0.119, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, DNS 192.168.0.1.

Two of the PCs (with fixed IP Addresses) are running applications which are being accessed by other PCs.

However, quite frequently we are facing problem with regard to accessing PCs running applications. Most of the time we are not being able to access the computers in the network.

Please let me know how to configure and setup the BSNL Broadband and LAN so that all the PCs can (a) access internet, and (b) access other computers in the workgroup.

Further, if we take static IP from BSNL, how to configure the same.
Would be grateful if someone can help me.

(a)In Your modem/router enable DHCP and give whatever range you want..
    In all computers
    Start/Network/LAN
    properties
    TCP/IP
    propeerties.
    Obtain Ip address automatically.
    DNS enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
    Apply.Save.
confirm ALL computers connected via switch can access the Internet.

(b)Presume you have set Files and Folder sharing options, in the workgroup.

    Similar modem settings:

There are only two IPs involved in each computer.
The Ip address of the computer 192.168.1.x ( x say 3 to 250)
    The Modem Gateway usually 192.168.1.1
Depending on the plan BSNL connects to a Dynamic IP or StaticIP
    which is seen in
    Current IP Check
If this is same 24/7 you have a static IP>
    Dynamic vs Static IP Addresses

There are two methods to assigning IP addresses to computers: dynamic and static.

Static IP addresses are used primarily for servers so that they don't appear to "move" while non-servers are usually assigned dynamic IP addresses. Most dynamic IP address users are users of internet service providers (ISPs) since not all the users of an ISP are online at one time and the ISPs can "get away" with not having enough IP addresses for each user.

In order to use a dynamic IP address, a service such as Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is used to assign addresses dynamically to devices as they request them. If a static address is used, it must be manually programmed into parameters of the device's network interface. (It is also possible to "fake" static IP address assignments through DHCP by assigning the same IP address to a computer — and no other — each time it is requested.)

Dynamic IP has a lot of advantages over static IP. Obviously, it might be that I am thinking on a completely different plane.
BSNL doesn't give static IP on low cost plans. It charges a huge sum for the static IP.

Make your posts meaningful by using short quotes.
    as per examples given above.
and base your reply/suggestions/comments. etc. on them.
Now some one will take up your comments and the subject will go" Off Tangent "

User: is not asking advantage of DynamicIP over Static IP.

Thanks, will keep in mind this moment onwards! BTW, I mentioned that BSNL doesn't give static IP on low cost plans. so my post wasn't completely offtopic. Anyways, please PM me anything you wish to say, as replying here will take this topic further offtopic.
