If all the settings are correct then it might be a problem in you port at exchange. but before that please ensure that your settings in modem and windows are correct.

In ping are you facing any packet loss..?

You know, you could also try updating your browser. You're using firefox right? Try updating it, that could work too since sometimes some things are just not compatible with the current browser.

    1. presume modem is UT300R2U ( new model )
    2. Can you open email in OUtlook Express Or OUtlook or any other
    email program you are using?
3.Check in Diagnostics page what are the "Fail" components.
    4. Try a "System Restore"
    5. Or you on "Dialer" mode or "Always ON" mode ?
    6. Start and do a tracert
    Copy/Paste Data here.

too tight security levels, are what trouble IE8. i do wonder who changes them once set. few of my friends had this problem.

Please check at "tools- internet options- security”--
The first three over there could be medium, medium-low and low respectively.
Also go to "advanced” and click “restore advanced settings” and ok it and come out
You should be able to browse from then on.

You can go for system restore as essbebe said. I was having such type of problem and at last I found "Some WINSOCK " is blocked. so if you can please format your PC.

    @Robert 0007
Waiting for feed back from thread starter.
See for WINSOCK fix ( could have suggested later
    after sfc /scannow etc)
WinSock XP Fix Freeware download and review - fix XP internet connectivity from SnapFiles
    Good suggestion by you.
